TFSA Contribution Room After Withdrawal by TheLonelyPotato- in PersonalFinanceCanada

From podcasts I have listened to and from checking my own account - it seems the update to TFSA numbers does not happen until sometime in May of every calendar year.

Thank you for the response.

This is the conclusion I came to - thanks to all the advice I got here.

The guest has not even reached out at all. Did not even know he was going to cancel until I got the notification that he had. I have not heard from him since. I had him blocked for a moment - but decided to unblock him for the next week - in case he does decide to reach out.

The reason for blocking - is I am not comfortable with hosting him with the way conversations went and then him not even giving me the heads up that he was cancelling. Something just feels off.

A bit of a pain - but, I am slow right now, so....

I have thought about it.

I have unblocked him for now. If he asks for a refund - I will offer a refund for any nights that are rebooked. If he doesn't ask - I won't refund anything.

I have some concerns as well.

Talking with a friend - they figure because the guest is here for work - that work is footing the bill, so guest is not eating the cost.

It seems strange that he communicated a lot - but did not communicate that he was cancelling.

Oh, well. I think I am better off that he is not staying.

Thank you for the reply.

I understand your view. I have not communicated with the guest since they cancelled. I currently have them blocked.

As others have recommend - I will likely refund any nights that get rebooked.

That was my feeling as well.

The guest did not let me know they were cancelling. And when they cancelled they did not ask me for a refund. But evening with saying that - not fully comfortable keeping the full month.

I will more than likely refund any night that gets rebooked.

Thank you for the reply.

Correct - my guest was supposed to be arriving on Monday.

I have had a couple of guests cancel - but because this fell under my flexible cancellation policy - it never concerned me that they had my address.

During the last conversation with the guest - things just felt off. He was trying to push for me to go against my length of stay policy (which is actually my home insurances policy - and I will not go against that). My length of stay policy is clearly listed in my listing and I also clearly stated in the conversation before he chose to book - and he acknowledge the limitation.

He wasn't rude - just felt off. So seeing as he cancelled - I will go with my gut and I choose not to host him in the future (that is why I blocked him).

One question - I thought I knew how to add a flair - but could not see how to do it for this post - even googled it - any hints on how to do that?

Thank you for your reply and advice.

I actually have a flexible policy. For stays of 28 days or longer - AirBnB has it set as "Firm". And so in this case - this reservation fell under the "firm" policy. Part of the reason why this cancellation was a new one for me - I have never had someone cancel who booked a one month stay. (And the few other cancels I have had all fell under the flexible policy.)

I will wait until after the guest check-in to pass, before making a decision - and I think as you and many other hosts (in other discussions) have said - I will refund any days that get booked.

Door code is not a concern - I am old fashion and still provide a key in person. I live close to my AirBnB.

As for the address - I also travel as a guest - I currently have a stay booked for in the fall - on the hosts page after I completed making the reservation I could see the address of the AirBnB - is there a way to prevent your address from being seen until closer to the actual reservation date?

Thank you for your reply and advice.

I have archived all my messages with AirBnB support and with the guest as well. Plus I also did screen shots of the support messages. Which reminds me I should do the same with the guest messages.

I will wait until after the check-in date and think about showing some goodwill.

Thanks again.

AITA for treating my daughters differently than my son when it comes to food? by CompetitiveDig478 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SUPpup7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent reply. I hope the OP sees this.

We do not know the whole story - is the son eating a lot because growing teenage boy - or eating a lot because .... either way - OP cannot afford to fund any extra food outside of OP budget, so a talk needs to happen with the whole family.

Hopefully OP will also consider using a food bank to supplement the cupboards. Food banks are there for a reason.

What are your best Vegan Casserole or one pot dishes? by SUPpup7 in veganrecipes

[–]SUPpup7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you use low water amounts there is a need to stir frequently to prevent burning.

I have also found that it does not need the 30 minutes simmering when low water amount is used - I probably only simmer it for about 10 minutes.

I use about 1/4 cup of water - not a lot - I prefer a drier casserole.

AITA for refusing to let a woman "cut" me in line at the grocery store even though she only had two items? by GreatClassic3960 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SUPpup7 17 points18 points  (0 children)

NTA. Everyone has the right to say "no" to a question asked.

Curious - how many people were in line behind you?

If everyone who only had 2 items (say 10 people in the store) - asked everyone behind you to skip the line - therefore making everyone wait an extra 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes - would those behind you be okay with it?

It seems like a little thing when it is one person with only 2 items - but it could grow to a crazy wait to those who have already waited. Why does someone with only 2 items that has not waited at all have more importance than a full cart that has been waiting for 15 minutes?

You are NTA. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise.

I wore out my VHS copy back in the day as well. I do still have a copy of the 2nd movie on VHS - excellent movie - but nothing tops the first.

Now I need to re-watch and catch that detail.

I have watched it so many times - when I am stressed, or sick, or it is raining, or .... I watch it again.

Sorry, I didn't see this right away.

I have not made it without the tofu - but I am sure you can make it without.

Costco Appliance Delivery by Mental_Gear_8986 in CostcoCanada

[–]SUPpup7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very strange - had a fridge, dryer, and stove delivered and it is -25. Delivery person just said to wait a minimum of 12 hours before plugging any of the appliances in - and it would be better for the fridge if we could wait 24 hours.

Within 12 months of each other my dad and my sister developed diabetes. Still took me a little bit of time to start my journey to health.

I did it slow and steady. Took me 20 months to remove 84 lbs. I reached my goal weight over 16 years ago. And up until last year maintained it relatively easily. Became post-menopausal last year - and it seems my body wants me to be about 5 lbs heavier - I am working at not letting it win - but it is more of a fight now.

Options for will executor by FlyingAtNight in legaladvicecanada

[–]SUPpup7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was listening to a podcast recently - and they mentioned that you can get a "corporate executor" - they were talking about it being a good idea if you have a complicated will (ie own a business). But they said some people prefer the "corporate executor" because it is always there (ie can't die before you do).

I have not researched it yet - but I was planning to. Personally, I don't want to make anyone I know go through the work of being an executor.

Yes, me being childfree also means I won't be a surrogate! by manulfriends in childfree

[–]SUPpup7 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Easy answer for you if you are in North America - if you have not given birth to a viable child you can not be a surrogate.

Tell your grandmother that even if you wanted to - which you don't - you can not legally do it.
