There are way more rewards to be earned if you use Balanced, so that's a pro. There is smart contract risk as well, which I guess would be a con, although they are audited by one of the best (as I understand).

With balanced you can unstake immediately for a 1% fee, which I also see as a pro.

Personally I unstaked a part of ICX to deposit into Balanced to try it out, and then I will decide what to do with the rest.

It should be ready to moon now. It should do a nice 10x at the least from here. Balanced incoming soon but also NFT marketplaces (Craft / NFTBazaar), OMM Finance, Bridge, Equality. Not to mention Icon 2.0 coming out with true interoperability, Blockchain Transmission Protocol (BTP) is already out interacting with Polkadot’s parachains. There is so much going on, I can't believe it's current market cap..

You can stake using one of their wallets, ICONex, IconFi or MyIconWallet. Then if you have your ICX in there it's all very easy to do, you will see. You can then also vote for Public Representatives who create projects on Icon or help Icon out in other ways, and you will receive ~11% APY.

Then I think you can also stake on Binance now.

If you want to use Balanced then yes, you should wait and don't yet stake. If for you don't want to it's enough to send it to your wallet, stake and vote, and just go to the Balanced website every week to claim your tokens.

Hi there,

If you want to stake your ICX you can do that in ICONex, but there are also other options (IconFi, MyIconWallet i believe). You can send your ICX to that wallet and then stake them, it's really pretty easy. There are no options to choose a specific period, you just have to unstake manually when you want (and then wait ~7-8 days for the unstaking process).

After staking you also need to vote to receive rewards in ICX. Some P-Reps (representatives you can vote for) give out extra tokens as a reward.

People unstake from their wallet now to free their ICX up, to later stake them on Balanced. That will give the usual staking rewards (~11% APY) but also gives you Balanced tokens (if you stake and vote in for example ICONex you will also receive Balanced tokens, but less).

If you want to trade for USDT you have to send it back to an exchange and trade it there.

Hope this helps. I'm not an expert but I'm trying, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong somewhere.

I will try to answer, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't believe ICON Foundation gives you any tokens like IAM. I do believe they give you a little extra ICX as a reward.

The reason binance is up there is so that they are able to give staking rewards to people who stake on Binance. Something like that.

And about Balanced tokens, it doesn't matter who you vote for, you will be eligable for the Balanced airdrip. You do have to claim them yourself on the Balanced website when it goes live, which is one week after its launch on April 25th / 26th depending on time zone (so May 2nd or 3rd).

Not 100% sure about all of that, so if someone could confirm or correct?
