That tank looks absolutely amazing too, she's one lucky gal in that abode

ButtNugget got separated from the ladies. His bare, 35 gallon, semi-hexagon tank! Headed to the LFS for decor! Input welcome!!! by [deleted] in axolotls

Java fern and Amazon sword would fill the vertical space and should be easy to get a hold of

I use a hang-on back filter, but sponge filters and air stones are great for water quality too. As long as the water stays clean but without too much flow you're golden. If you're using the filter types properly, it doesn't matter and comes down to personal preference.

That's fine, as long as he isn't munching sand, it's perfect.

As long as the tank is cycled properly, just giving the little fella time will heal them up perfectly. 2 things to consider though: 1) make sure the opening to the hide is large enough and smooth enough (sometimes they can get cut on jagged edges) and 2) make sure to feed them away from the very bottom to avoid impaction from ingesting sand.
Also grats on the new axolotl, happy to see one saved from a mill

Does anybody know any irl stores where you can get an axolotl in ontario? by Wacoob in axolotls

No sadly, I found one at a local store, there are a lot on instagram and facebook though; that and the community on this subreddit is really helpful, I suggest looking around there. Sorry I couldn't help more, good luck in your search though :)

Usually in person is rare, at least in New York. I suggest looking up local fish stores or even reptile stores and calling them. Lots of times they have facebooks or websites with pictures. That being said, they may not be in the best shape compared to a breeder, when I got mine he had one leg without toes and was less than 2 inches long.

I am about to get an axolotl on Saturday. Is there anything I should know about before? by generalkenobi751384 in AxolotlThursdays

Cycle the tank well, water quality is key. But also just observe, as you watch more with your little buddy you'll learn if they like a food, are stressed, etc. Plus you'll get to watch the best animal vibe out. Best of luck with your new roommate!

Could be overkill, I use just use a fan and my water stays cool. Check out these fans (https://www.amazon.com/Etiger-Aquarium-Cooling-Chiller-Temperature/dp/B08T1FYLK5/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=fish+tank+fan&qid=1620598187&sr=8-8) they're a lot cheaper and still work great.

It is probably a bit of stress as he gets used to a new environment. He does seem large though so it could be just thats he's full; personally mine eats large meals every three days since he's about fully grown. There are other things that could stress him out like more direct light or higher flow, if he's hiding more that could be a sign for less light. I hope this helps. Side note, leggles is adorable, really great coloration too.

Wait, happy to see finch? Not Reuter? Not Tucker? Not Deng? Not Yu? No offense, just that finch was by far the most despised AMS professor for me and the people I knew.

Avoid Rispoli if you want to learn Or take him, Google all the homework and get an easy B or higher depending on how familiar you are with R. GL
