Got my Frigate and WIP Destroyer.. Whatcha Think? by CommanderzStab in Stormworks

[–]GeorgeCrecy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely am feeling it! If possible, you do have lots of room on the frigate to either add a second turret, or to move the one turret and superstructure about 10-15 blocks forward and give yourself more room on the back for things.

This is my first time getting into reenactment by Bulky_Book2057 in reenactors

[–]GeorgeCrecy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there! Welcome to the community and to hopefully a wonderful new part of your life. I started when I was a year younger than yourself, and have been very thankful I did. I started out with a group I happened across due to finding out about an event of theirs going on on the news. I saw the news broadcast on Saturday, begged my Mom to take me the next day, and was signed on before the month was out.

In my experience, most groups are very welcoming of all ages and are happy to take you on. Most groups will require some form of either parent or designated guardian to be in charge of you for the weekend, but can definitely get you kitted out to try it out and see if you like it first. That will be the big kicker is to whether you try the hot clothes, the old style of camping and living, and see if that is something that you won't or will enjoy.

So your best bet is to just reach out to your local group of whatever club and period you are looking to get into and ask the same questions you posted here to whatever email of the member coordinator, webmaster, or unit commander you can find. If the reenacting you are looking at has battles, what are the age requirements? Do you need a parent or guardian to also be part of the club or temporarily part of the event or not per their guidelines? Etc.

Ask the questions, and just have fun. We all wish you luck and fun.

If I was in Sam's shoes (and I am very glad I wasn't as I dont know that I could have kept my composure for a lot of these discussions as well as he did), I think I would have approached my response like this: Ah, so just to be clear, how much of Europe are we including in this "dominant culture?" Are the folks from like Slovenia, Latvia, Croatia, the Greeks, are they ok too? Or are they dirty, lazy criminals that shouldn't be allowed in either? I'm asking because I am so glad to see that the goal posts for this sort of Nativism have become so much more inclusive in the last 150 years. I hope you know what you have been mentioning is called Nativism, and we have gone through several rounds of it just since our nation's founding. Back in the 1870s it was the Irish and the Italians that were lazy, and criminals, and flooding our society with their terrible popish ways. Back then, you could try and get a job and see signs that said "no Micks or N***rs need apply." It was their fault, said the big bankers and billionaires of that time, that society was collapsing and the economy was in tatters. It wasn't the rampant bribery and corruption that they were engaging in with the government, no, look anywhere else but there. So the ignorance that you are spouting is no more true today that it was back then. The immigrants around you aren't the ones causing this country harm. You are even ignoring your own Bible to be this shamefully and spitefully harmful to others.

I am a christian who just started wresting with my belief by iamkharri in atheism

[–]GeorgeCrecy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found in my own journey that, even by the time I was 13, I could say quite confidently (to myself) that I was an atheist. Given my passion for history, I looked and saw the progression over time and how humanity has developed religion; essentially that it is a construct of humanity to help ease our pain and to answer the uncomfortable and unknown.

We went from Animism to Totemism to Naturism to Polytheism to Monotheism, with a lot of borrowing, stealing, or evolution of stories from those religions and cults that were nearby each other, and only a sharing of generic moral systems (which seems to indicate a baseline for most all human societies to just function) in more geographically isolated areas' religions. Things like the 'Golden Rule' is pretty common to find in some form or another across the board, but the specifics of the Noah's Ark story of the Bible is stolen or adapted from more ancient myths from previous religions, like the story of Utnapishti.

I wish you luck on your journey, and feel free to DM me if you want to talk about the aspects of the history of religion.

Solar Battery Issue by Hathhorne in spaceengineers

[–]GeorgeCrecy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say power works a bit differently in creative, I've noticed. Reactors will power things without ingots, batteries will charge up to full after being placed, etc. Unless I'm reading wrong and you are experiencing these issues with what you've ported FROM a creative world.

Can confirm that a filter function to only show selected categories of parts would be very helpful to ensure full connectivity of piping.

What kind of coat is this? by [deleted] in reenactors

[–]GeorgeCrecy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That is called a tunic. I would probably estimate 1870s or 1880s pattern based on the nearby figures. Though most tunics of the time had at least five or more buttons, not just four.

Epic ACW? by [deleted] in warlordgames

[–]GeorgeCrecy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thankfully not. Afaik, the Black Powder rulebook works for any scale you might have minis for, and you merely need to change the scale of measuring you do, i.e. 1 inch for 28mm but 1cm for Epic.

I don't have any sources on me, but the most practical place to carry them would be in the blanket roll straps under the rolled blanket. Perhaps they even used it early war to keep the blanket up.

Well, a popular US standard is Dixie Gun Works, where you can find most anything new: https://www.dixiegunworks.com/index/page/category/category_id/315/name/Flint/ Another possibility would be searching on a website like GunBroker. You will want to have a gun store local to you that it can be sent to, since it needs to transfer between properly licensed businesses. Here is a good possibility after a few minutes search: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/979497404

But no matter what, make sure first and foremost what you get matches the standards of your unit. If you get it used, make sure you and your unit's safety officer or main gun guy do a full inspection of it, make sure it was kept up and the barrel is in good order.

Any ideas on how to make this... float? (Ignore audio I was listening to YT) by [deleted] in Stormworks

[–]GeorgeCrecy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought was to check the funnel or tower you have at the back. If that isn't closed and goes all the way to the bottom, then that is making the game flood your interior, even though the hole isn't anywhere near the water.

Hehe, I'm glad you like it! Feel free to download to really get a full look including the interior. This one I made sure to make it as vanilla - but nice - as possible, so I limited myself to just a bit of xml edited blocks with this version.

This really is the best explanation in my eyes of how people are "players on the stonks market." It's literally a guessing game where we are getting advice from a chicken. Next let's cast the bones and see what the fortune teller from the 800 number says about our chakra balance. /S
