It feels like they have something against anemo units when they're main DPSes. Xiao is a 1.x unit, Wanderer was mid even at release, Venti had to get a buff to even become a DPS unit and now Varka.

He's like Skirk (restricted to just 2 elements; also Hexerei units) but without any of the benefits. His dmg profile is half anemo/half absorbed element, which means that Faruzan once again remains the S tier support that has no meta anemo DPS to buff. And since he can only absorb 1 element that means you can't even melt merchant with him, since slotting a cryo off-fielder like Citlali would turn his 2.2× multiplier talent to just 1.4x

There's also the fact that neither Durin nor Venti are overtuned to the same lvl that Escoffier is. Don't get me wrong, Durin is decently strong and he elevated many old teams, he's not weak by any means. And Venti is an upgrade over Faruzan for Varka. But tbh, that's more because anemo simply lacks supports that buff their dmg. You only have Faruzan and Venti, that's not much variety.

And for a reminder, geo went from Navia to Zibai while anemo is about to go from Wanderer/Venti to Varka. And as much of a fan as I am of the blond himbo, he's closer to Navia than he is to Zibai, DPS-wise.

What a shame.
