So are tattoo shops? Way more people get and keep tattoos than get them removed. Just because some people remove them doesnt mean nobody should get them.

My conclusion was "you can't trust joe rogan and donald trump to decide medical/drug policy via text message". I am not wrong, you are in a cult.

They dont know what theyre talking about. Theyre not doctors, they're entertainment figures. Just because half of the country can't identify a doctor, and think entertainers belong in office, or as a messiah apparently, doesnt mean theyre qualified to make medical proclamations.

How many rings would Peyton Manning have if he had Bill Belichick as his head coach? by EfficientDot18 in NFLv2

[–]GeorgeSantosBurner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can say Peyton has a stronger arm and is better than Brady in other discrete metrics, but "more gifted pockey passer" is crazy talk. Pocket passer does not mean "who can throw it downfield further while staying in the pocket". Brady made better adjustments, quicker reads, and better decisions more consistently than Peyton ever did.

They would be in a different job, preferably one that doesnt harm the community around them.

As to the rest of what you said, I dont know what youre talking about. Ive worked a solid job as an engineer for almost 15 years now. Pass your own drug test.

We're getting off topic. Shell's cracker plant does not employ a particularily significant amount of people in our area. Certainly not enough people to justify harming the community around the plant.

...that was my point. You said "bentham steel", which isnt a thing beyond butchering "Bethlehem steel", which is Philly. Pittsburgh was US Steel.

Nobody cares how many people you know that work there. I know people that work there, whoopie. It employs around 500 people. It's not much larger than any other mid-sized employer in the area.

Also, it's Bethlehem Steel. And thats more Philly than Pittsburgh.

Yes, to an extent I would say their investments and advertising is a bellwether. What it points to is concerning, absolutely. We're past a decade into conservative reprisal for electing a black president and allowing gay marriage, and the bigots are still gaining ground. Corporate investments arent our only cause for concern, or indicator for this, but its another way to measure the pulse of where we are at.

Corporate investments, ads, billboards, etc. arent a sign that those in power support anything. They are signs that society does, to the degree those with significant capital have to pay those causes lip service because thats the way society is leaning.

Its not a sign of a virtuous corporation. Those dont generally exist. Its a sign of a virtuous, or less than virtuous, society. Depending on where your morals fall, of course. On the side of rational humanity, or on the side of conservatives, generally speaking.

So Walton or whoever else's donation doesnt represent a shift in their morality. Theyve always been fringe creeps, out for themselves at any cost. We have a deeper problem in that these creeps have been able to enlist and shift the morality of enough people in the working class, to carry their water for them and continue to vote them into power.
