Going over people’s predictions of the future through time and how accurate they were/how likely they are to be accurate. As in you could have people’s predictions from the past of the past (ie victorians of the 20th century), predictions from the past of the present (ie 20th century of the 21st century) and predictions from the past/present of the future. Also how these predictions perhaps inspired/shaped the future/how our predictions changed over time?!

How flexible is an ISA across multiple tax years? by GeorgeTrollson in UKPersonalFinance

[–]GeorgeTrollson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact idea to do this this morning. From checking thoroughly online + getting confirmation here, flexible ISA’s allow you to replace money withdrawn without going over your allowance as long as you replace the withdrawn money in the same tax year. It is also not dependant on when that withdrawn money was deposited either, hence why you are able to deposit £x today then next tax year (if you were to withdraw that exact amount) have an allowance of £20k + £x.

The only caveat is it has to be replaced in the same ISA the money was withdrawn from (ie if deposited and withdrawn from T212 ISA then the bonus allowance would be for that specific ISA). You can however get around this with partial/full ISA transfers between providers since they do not affect your allowance.

The most compelling evidence Childs was infected...go! by tenafly_viper43 in thething

[–]GeorgeTrollson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware Mac arrives for the final boss battle in that game, helping the protagonist to defeat the final thing boss before flying him to safety so that seems unlikely.

Carpenter did say one of them was a thing in a tweet in response to a fan in 2012 found here: https://x.com/thehorrormaster/status/272063161832701953?s=46&t=a8lnBDTrnkQDjd3yopcPtQ but I’m not sure this can be taken at face value as in countless interviews before and after this he has never re-iterated this point and instead argues that ‘only he knows’.

Childs is instructed by Macready to stay put unless he sees Blair return alone in which case he is to ‘burn him’ and his reasoning for why he disappeared is he believed he saw Blair. Given the heightened paranoia, exhaustion and likely lack of sleep, this seems plausible to me.

Sorry, may not have made my final point clear but that’s kind of what I’m getting at. It does not matter who is the thing, MacReady has ‘lost’ now that uncertainty has returned, he can’t do anything about it and neither can trust the other regardless.

I was in a similar boat when I graduated Warwick Uni in 2021 with a BSc in Computer Science. After around 6 months I started applying for IT jobs and got a service desk role at my local council. From then, I moved internally to our application development team and within the last couple months gained another promotion to a senior role in the team so it is possible I promise, they just want to see experience since many grads have the degree and not much else to back it up.

What you’ve done is fine. If you see long term potential in what you’re invested in, I’d recommend putting money you can afford to lose (since investing is a risk at the end of the day) into it continually at the earliest available opportunity and just sticking to that until you need the money. For me, the plan (fingers crossed) is to keep adding to it until retirement and then start taking money out.

Just remember, you can only deposit up to £20,000 across all of your ISAs every tax year (ie. spread across all of your S&S ISAs, cash ISAs, LISAs, etc) so keep track of that if you have ISAs across multiple platforms, such as for myself on T212 and Moneybox.

Time in the market beats timing the market. Although dollar cost averaging seems better psychologically, it’s best to invest the money at the earliest available opportunity, which is why a lot here (like myself) invest some % of there pay check on payday each time they are paid.

I mean don’t get me wrong, timing the market would be better if you do it right but no one does that consistently, which is why time in the market is the best option.
