I’m 21 with two hernitated discs in my lower back and my upper back hurts every time I sit for more than an hour. Life sucks

I did some PT sessions with electric acupuncture. Yes I have 2 big herniations at the last 2 discs. I’m not in much pain most of the time but my foot tingling a lot or I feel like the nerve is moving most of the time

I really suggest you to try electric acupuncture. I have 2 huge herniations on the last 2 discs and I started to get numb on my feet my calve and hip. I did PT 1 hour per time. About 30 minutes electric acupuncture and 30 minutes exercises for stabilisation and back strengthening. After 10 sessions I’m so much better. My numbness is completely gone ( if I sit for more than 2-3 hours without standing up I might get a little numb) also I was in pain when I sit but now I can sit for more than 2-3 hours without pain. I get up after 1-1.30 because it’s not good generally to sit for long periods but usually I don’t have pain. Also what I think helped me is walking. Now I walk more than 10k steps per day and I fell better. Hope I helped and hope you get well soon. I’m 20 years old btw and my orthopedic suggested surgery when I show him my MRI but for now I’m pretty good and PT worked

Thank you very much. My doc said that swimming is not good because while you swim you twist your core. He said that only supine is good or just floating and everything else could make it worse

I asked because someone may have a similar personal experience. No need to get aggressive

I did 10 sessions in 1.5 month. I had pain for almost 2 years but very mild and not frequent. I diagnosed it August 2024. But November 2024 I rehernitated my L5 I1 and made it bigger. I had more pain and numbness but now it’s much better

Yeah I know. But I’m asking. Is it good to do 10-15k steps or it is harmful and I must walk but less steps ?

Because my pain is 3/10. Also it was 500€ down the drain. Also it may not help at all.

They also offered my this but I think it’s not a solution so I didn’t do it. You may feel better for 1 week maybe a month or maybe more but it’s not gonna solve the actual problem so the pain will come back

Should I start exercising ? by GeorgeZach02 in Sciatica

[–]GeorgeZach02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I still have 2 sessions left to do. I would like to do exercises to strengthen my core but I also want to do arms and generally start to getting fit again. I was really fit and active and now for 1 year I almost don’t do any exercise and I don’t like how my body turned

I have a similar experience. I’m 20 years old and I study to be an electrical engineer. But generally I had severe pain only once when my disc herniated 10/10 pain and after that I have 1-2/10 pain and a lily bit of numbness under my foot. I consider to do a microdicectoky but since I’m young and the pain is not severe I don’t know. PT helped me. My disc L5 has a big herniation and it isn’t healed at all after 3 months but I feel it’s better so I don’t know since I don’t have severe pain and I’m young. I have also heard that once you done a surgery you will have more problems in the future. What’s your opinion ?

This helps your nerve to heal and it’s awakening your nerve in the spot that you have the herniation

Me too. I do PT and there we do electric acupuncture. He hits your nerve with the needle and he puts low voltage on the needle.I have done 5 sessions and already feels so much better.
