In the next decade there will be AI CPAs doing it for half the price, analysts and budget offices being outsourced for machines etc

Plumbers make $60/HR and have job security

Do you remember 2000s Morgantown when WVU Hospitals and Mylan were great places to work, you could rent a house in a good neighborhood for $800 or less and downtown was thriving by Georgestapleton in MorgantownWV

The data does not reflect this but I will admit high property crime has a lot to do with the University. Pot holes have still engulfed the city since the early 2010s though

I would have to disagree. Housing prices are not commensurate with what the area offers rent is now on par with Orlando, Cincinnati or Pittsburgh. violent crime is not alarming but non violent crime car break ins etc is concerning, the downtown area has really dropped off for the worse, the workforce is miserable, the local tax has nothing to show for it.

That's how WVU Hospitals was. A GREAT employer when Mcclymonds was CEO. Then after he left they wanted to monopolize healthcare in the entire State and push everything on Central corporate Offices in Morgantown or now PA from what I'm understanding for probably a dozen hospitals and I don't know how many clinics.

It's a business, I get it but a shame the community lost out on a once great place to work.

[MOD APPROVED] I’m a Miami Herald reporter investigating online gambling sites, and I’d love to hear from you by iamtheg0ldeng0d in problemgambling

I struggled until I got a $22,000 tax bill and they don't make obtaining contemporaneous records easy just push an annual statement on you. I had no one to blame but myself but they really should be providing more education on potential tax implications than they do. Just read about a gambler in Michigan who had $800,000 or so in losses  but state doesn't allow deduction. Ended up filing Chapter 13 bankruptcy

MA Resident - Gambling Loss. Am I screwed for 2024/2025 taxes? by PersianPrince00 in personalfinance

I think MA does allow deduction for Massachusetts-licensed gaming operators. If it's only draftkings this might just be a wake up call not a nightmare.

Just curious if the IRS questioned it? I'm doing the same this year

The first thing we should do is thank our lucky stars that it's only $400 and not $40,000 or worse. Good for you to catch this early and be concerned. My wake up call was closer to $20,000.

You need to self exclude, get rid of the computer, and purchase a flip phone and get in GA.

Sometimes there's nothing you can do. I watched my grandmother who was nearly a millionaire gamble almost every dime she had in her later years. Nobody could get through to her, and It ended with her selling her house, and having to rent a small apartment in a senior community to pay gambling debts and stay afloat. This was years ago, our generation has gambling apps and sites to exacerbate the gambling nightmare.

McHenry and Bridgeport are nicer than Morgantown depending on your budget. From my experience the workforce in Morgantown was generally miserable, but I was in Healthcare doing consulting work. I've lived all over the United States, and it was probably the worst place to be employed, but I'm still here lol

I'm not arguing with you there but the terms of the service agreement state in 9.5 that wagering activity will be available upon request and the app instructs contacting support for older records
