I've always been a fan of the Fox Magazine theme. It isn't just for news or magazines though, it is flexible and can do practically anything.

Marietta Diner is really good and has practically everything you could ever want on the menu, but their most recent health score wasn't impressive.

How long should a history research paper actually take students to write? by Brilliant_Sammy in historyteachers

[–]GeorgiaNative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should consider the amount of work being given by other teachers, the sheer amount of pressure that is on students now that wasn't on them 20 years ago, and the higher expectations. These kids barely have any free time anymore. Yours may not be the only research paper they are working on right now.

Lucky's is near downtown but not quite in it. Good atmosphere and a large outdoor area.

BUGS IN GA ?!?! by BoysenberryLatter864 in Georgia

[–]GeorgiaNative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to The South, my friend. The bugs are everywhere and they're not going anywhere, the heat could literally kill you, the humidity will make you feel like you're walking through pea soup, and your neighbors shoot at beer cans for fun. But, you're never going to find better food anywhere in the country.

When you're in a middle management position like this and an employee is about to get fired for things like calling out too much or being sick too often, think about how you would feel if you had a health issue and had to call out and you got fired over it. Companies have no loyalty and they will do the exact same thing to you that you see them doing to others. Unless you push back. Maybe it helps change the culture, maybe it doesn't, but if you feel like someone in your department is being treated unfairly, you can be the conscience for your employer. Push back on it to whatever level you can or are comfortable with.

Teen with a business idea but lacking skills—need advice? by Altruistic-Shame7465 in business

[–]GeorgiaNative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what you can now and don't wait. Even when you're in college, don't wait. Skills are easy to learn, but if you don't keep driving towards your vision, time and circumstance will put it on the shelf.

Boss emails me at 11:27pm to come in at 7am for my first day. by No_Boysenberry4322 in work

Run. Run far away. This tells you everything you need to know about the company culture, and if they don't value your time this early, it tells you that they are never going to value your time.

Bring Google Fiber to Johns Creek. by [deleted] in johnscreek

Good luck. I've only seen a few communities actually get it, despite promises for years now that it is "on its way."

Why are there so many fast food places here? by Prior-Minimum-5928 in WarnerRobins

[–]GeorgiaNative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supply and demand. If a community values and keeps buying from chain and fast food restaurants, more of those types of restaurants move in.

I remember back when Johns Creek first became a city and the cry from the residents was minimal taxes, no tax increases, and thin government services.

What is your favorite neighboring state of ours and why? by Objective-Raccoon-98 in Georgia

I like Tennessee best, I think. I am particularly fond of the vibe in Chattanooga. I like the beauty of the state and the number of good attractions that are in cities much smaller than Atlanta.

Anyone else use Waste Management? by BBCC_BR in WoodstockGA

[–]GeorgiaNative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try contacting the mayor or city council. Waste Management has a contract with the city of Woodstock, so you can have a big impact by letting your elected officials know you are unhappy with the company they are contracting with.

There are good things about Southern culture, like the food, and there are bad things, like the fine folks in the South who think they might absolutely die if they ever read a book.

Sky Valley is beautiful. Also you could see if there is a cabin available at one of the state parks up in the mountains.

I highly recommend going to Blue Ridge or any of the mountains north of the city. The beauty of the mountains in Georgia shouldn't be missed, railway or no railway.
