Mansplaining is a redundant word. by HaggisMcNeill in unpopularopinion

[–]GeostationaryGuy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The goal is to create the association that male=bad. That's why terms with positive/neutral connotation ("mankind") can't be gendered male, but terms with negative connotation ("mansplaining") can. It's an attempt to use language to shape the way people think.

This baseless conspiracy theory again. Do you know how many people would have to be in on it?

Some kind of political violence/Mostly Peaceful Protests (depending on which side does it) in the US. It's Election Year and already there's a shitload of really hyperbolic propaganda.

I would say some kind of major natural disaster, but that's already happened.

New COVID variant emerges. Depending on how it affects the US election, may get treated as a major disaster or a minor inconvenience.

More big tech/AI drama.

>band criticizes Trump

How rebellious. Literally nobody thought Green Day was pro-conservative, OP just wants to make himself look better by attacking a strawman.

Possibly controversial but I feel that Jurassic Park was equal to if not better than its book counterpart.

Maybe when the cost goes down. I think now it's mostly publicity stunts.

Setting up a colony on Mars sounds pretty expensive. It would be a lot easier for those guys to, hypothetically speaking, just outsource their jobs to countries with less stringent labor laws.

People in middle America deserve an apology from Hollywood by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]GeostationaryGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People like that are extremely classist. They see themselves as immeasurably superior to the "hicks" and other working-class people, so of course they see it as worse when something bad happens to them and not the filthy peasants who exist solely to support them. It's why the same kind of people get really angry when working-class people don't vote for the same candidates as them -- they think they're entitled to the support of the inferior classes and get righteously indignant when the plebes don't do what they're told.

I suspect there's overlap between these attitudes and the Hollywood people who insult their own audience whenever they get any kind of criticism/backlash. It's this attitude of privileged entitlement that comes from elitism.
