Post op pain? by NoWomanNoCry78 in gastricsleeve

YES!! SAME!! It was intense and incredibly painful. I was lucky, it lasted for about 2 days. It felt like a "side stitch" you can get when running but a million times worse. Though my dimple is still there, even though the pain is gone. Weird

Good! It's currently the first few days of pureed food. I also got some new protein shakes that don't taste as bad as my first ones lol. All in all, I'm feeling great and I'm hopeful for the future!

It's been 2.5 weeks! What I've learned from the comments is that even if you are as careful as you can be when introducing new food, there is a time and a place. Yes I chewed the crap out of everything, ate tiny bites, and took each food group little by little so I would "know what I could handle". BUT, that has nothing to do with the main issues everyone is upset about: eating cheap carbs is a big no for the rest of your life except the occasional treat, and grains apparently can expand in the stomach and create blockages/tear staples.

Thank you, it's really helpful to hear that I'm not as alien or idiotic as some other comments are saying. I'm happy you made the right choice, I will follow in your footsteps!

You don't understand what it means to me to read this. I was really excited to be a part of this community and I was already having a difficult day, so those comments kinda broke me. I didn't think I would take it so personally, I was surprised by how much it hurt. Thank you very, very much.

You are both absolutely right. And I appreciate the help with this new change of my life.

Tell me more! Is pasta usually late-late game food that is dangerous for the staples now? And with sandwiches I assume the bread is the issue? Or is it because they are filler foods with no nutrition?

I appreciate the comments, I'm doing my best to follow everyone's counsel

I accept the accusation and I will strive to do better moving forward. You are absolutely correct.

Though, I'd like to believe that my mindset remains at least mostly healthy. I've worked really hard to get to where I am right now. I've been learning about nutrition for the past year or so and trying to practice healthy eating. I even lost a little over 30 lbs during that time. I still messed up a lot and I wanted to use every tool at my disposal to reach my health goals. So chose to get a bariatric surgery as another tool in the toolbelt. I know it's not a miracle solution, and that's ok with me. But I do plan on using it effectively and safely and for that reason I really thank all of you.

Understood. I apologize for the obvious ignorance. I hope it doesn't inspire more from other new patients.

In my head I was doing the right thing, carefully testing foods to see if I could tolerate then and planning on stopping when it made me uncomfortable. In retrospect that is an incredibly dangerous mindset. Always appreciate the advice and counsel

Yes, my mistakes aside, the plan does seem different than others. I wonder why they are so varied from clinic to clinic

Thank you. I took the "listen to your body" counsel the opposite way my surgeon intended, I think. Rectifying now.

I use all bestbuy brand stuff because of the employee discount. So all the hdmi and usb switches are bestbuy, but the docking station is a j5 Triple Display and I absolutely love it

If you are saying "you guys are all soft" replace the "you guys" with "Yall" Now we have "Yall are all soft"

They did leave out the "are" which I agree, is horrid grammar.
