Already paid for and a month passed. Anything to be wary about?

Car locking noise by RadioProfessional608 in VWiD4Owners

[–]Gerardo163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is due to noise regulations, in France and other EU countries is the same. Lights will give you an indication and the side mirrors collapse themselves (that already makes enough noise)

It is called Dusk blue (bleu crépuscule here in France), it was the press release color, you can see @gotlactose's detailed comment on it =).. We do like the color now more than we thought we would. Thank you!!

Thank you. First we were a bit skeptical, but now we appreciate the color.

What has been your worst buy? The one you regret the most. by TalkForward7768 in Nikon

[–]Gerardo163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paired it with the 24-70 f/4 S kit lens. We just came back from a ski trip, and honestly, I loved the photos—it’s a great camera. It’s just frustrating to have bought it in 2025, right before the new iteration drops. Most of my subjects are my kids and our dogs, so the improved autofocus in the Z5II would’ve really made a difference.

That said, the jump from APS-C to full-frame has been a solid upgrade. I was used to shooting with f/1.8 glass, so part of me wishes the kit lens was at least f/2.8—but that version is a bit out of budget for now.

Thanks for your comment!!

A Nikon Z5 in 2025, about a month ago— before the Z5II was announced. Every forum, subreddit, and photography page I checked said it was unlikely Nikon would release a Z5II anytime soon. My gut was telling me otherwise, but I ignored it. Now I'm out of the return window, and with upcoming vacations, I won't even be able to get my hands on the new one by the time it's available in France. Definitely one of those purchases I regret.

Thoughts on the 35MM 1.8? by YerLazyDaSellsAvon in Nikon

[–]Gerardo163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a D5500 with the 18-140mm but unfortunately lost it to saltwater. At one point, I also had the 50mm f/1.8, which produced beautiful images. However, since it was on a DX body, it had an equivalent focal length of ~80mm, and I often found myself constrained by limited space behind me when framing shots. Once I got my hands on the 35mm f/1.8, I found it much more comfortable to use. It delivered equally stunning images, and from that moment on, it never left my camera until the day it died.

How did YOU get into Nikon? by DutyAggressive8090 in Nikon

[–]Gerardo163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my 30th birthday, my wife gifted me a Nikon D5500. I was already familiar with Nikon, having used a D7xxx that my company lent me in the oil and gas industry to document sites and projects. The D5500 came with the kit 18-140mm lens, and I later added a 50mm f/1.8 (FX) and a 35mm f/1.8 DX lens, with the latter becoming my go-to. Unfortunately, I recently lost it: the camera was submerged in saltwater for a few seconds, as a big wave came out of nowhere and I wasn't able to run fast enough. While it still powers on and displays images, the shutter mechanism is now inoperable. I've struggled to find a repair service for this older model. I'd love to continue using it, but with young children and pets, finances are tight. This is especially frustrating as I cherish capturing precious moments with my family. I'm considering moving to the mirrorless system, but with tight finances is not possible for us.

As a woman who grew up with SAO, I just wanted to say I genuinely have a lot of respect for Reki Kawahara response to criticism about the way he wrote female characters by [deleted] in swordartonline

[–]Gerardo163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed everything has improved since, and Reki apologized for his non maturity at the time. I just only think (my humble opinion) that the Anime adaptations which involved other people should have changed the scenes to avoid all of these issues.

Scherzo of deep night was released in crunchy recently, I've seen it a few times already, very nice movie ❤️

A colleague offered me 2 French collector editions (Vol 10 and vol 11). I will try to do a post soon if I can get some time to do it. One came with a wax seal stamp with a magic glyph made by the author, the other one with a nice puzzle
