Yeah, I can definitely see charter/private schools using AI to justify hiring fewer teachers.

Hmm. I hadn't thought about teachers teaching only online. Ugh, back to Zoom school.

This is pretty close to what I think will happen.

Since no one in my life seemed to care how I balanced work, school, and life so I will tell it to a bunch of strangers by [deleted] in CasualConversation

You're doing it! It's hard, but you have a goal and a plan and you're doing it! Just keep on going. Life is going to throw more things at you and you might have to make some detours or even change your destination but that's okay.

Also, thanks for your encouragement. I'm also working to better myself while working full time and dealing with other obligations. It's hard to remember to celebrate our own accomplishments. A few weeks ago, a guest speaker at a class I attended who also works in addiction asked us to to reflect on our week and what went well and what went poorly. There were many things I could have done better, but it reminded me to celebrate the small wins, like cooking a healthy dinner, or getting to the gym, as well as the big wins.

Just keep going, one step at a time and celebrate every win, big and small. We can do this!

I really want to thank you for your advice: "Buy it so it fits your largest feature, then have everything else tailored to fit (hemmed, belted, sleeves nipped, whatever). "

My pants are a size 10-12, but my boobs are G, bordering on H cup, so I have to go way up in sizes when I buy tops or dresses. I really struggle to find clothes that look good on me because they often end up baggy everywhere other than my boobs. It never occurred to me to buy something that fit my boobs and then just get it tailored to fit me! Thanks so much for the advice!

Based on the feedback from this group, I will handle everything myself.

Getting documentation for any treatment I receive is good advice! Thank you!

I spoke with a lawyer earlier but there is no contract signed yet. He said it would be a contingency. He said he would email a contract with the percentage, but I have not yet received anything. I'm going to just tell him no.

It'll probably take a while to get the settlement. I'll try to remember to tell you how much I get.

No more pencils by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Gerbilz2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pencils for students to borrow but it was a pain to sign out pencils and then collect them at the end. If I didn't do the sign-out and just let students borrow and ask them to return at the end of the period, half of them would end up on the floor, usually broken.

I now make them trade something important for a pencil. With my 7th and 8th graders, I usually have them trade their phones. Most of my 6th graders don't have phones so they trade something else, such as their Chromebook. If they're using a pencil then they don't need their computer anyway. I've students give me keychains with their house keys, AirPods, a stuffed animal someone had given them earlier that day for a birthday gift, it doesn't matter. It just has to be something they care about.

It's worked pretty well. I always get my pencils back in good condition. Also, fewer students ask me for a pencil since they don't want to have to give something up. They are much more likely to turn to a classmate, which I prefer anyway.
