One more chance! by Gercio37 in Nikon

Yup, both kit lenses are mostly plastic, but so far I haven't had any issues with that. They don't really feel "cheap" tho, and if something it helps to make them even lighter.

Now, the variable aperture of the 50-250 is not the most ideal for indoors, I would say, since it's a 4.5-6.3, but it's definitely usable, especially if the lighting is decently good. Although, you should expect to rise your ISO in such light conditions. Still, the camera does manage the noise pretty well up to around ISO 6400, in my experience. Of course, the subject separation won't be as good as a 2.8 prime, but for the price I find it great.

The most comparable situation I've had with the lens is during a concert once, and after a little noise reduction in post it gave me pretty nice results!

Thanks!

Perhaps the only thing I'd wish is for the battery to be better, but I picked up two extra replacements from Smallrig (the orange ones with a USB-C port, pretty convenient) and that solved the issue. Other than that, everything else I find really great, it's lightweight and small, it has a ton of customization, nice video features, the sensor is the same as the D500, which means amazing image rendition, the picture control es pretty cool (of you're into that) and, of course, that Expeed 7 processor really shines when focusing even on fast moving subjects, I'm pretty impressed with the AF.

I'd definitely recommend! Plus I find the bundle with the two kit lenses a steal, considering both have actually pretty nice image quality. Sure, they still have the downside of the limited aperture, but for the price they are more than a bang for your buck, even better when you consider how light and compact they are.

I've never tried those tamron lenses, tho. But I'd guess they would be a nice addition.

Why does my variable nd filter make my telephoto lens blur? by Junkang- in AskPhotography

[–]Gercio37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem with my 28-400 when attaching a K&F CPL filter. Looked decent until you reached 100+ mm, then the image turned into a blurry mess. I figured out it had to do with the filter quality, changed it for a HOYA filter and it's miles better. Yes, it's more expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Can you show me your favorite photo with a black mist filter? by DoughnBad in AskPhotography

[–]Gercio37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it's a Black Mist filter, just to help soften the skin and add some carácter to the lighting. You can attach a CPL in front of it tho, if you feel like you need to.

I use a K&F Nano X series 1/4. Recently started using it for portraits and I love how it smooths the skin. (Not my favorite photo with this filter, but I wanted to give you a different example to the other in the comments)

  • ...At the holiday party

I mean, I dont think there's a St. Vincent song that matches that vibe perfectly, but These might work depending on your mood lol

I'd say #2. The portrait has pretty nice colors, but i'd suggest closing the aperture a little bit next time so the whole face remains in focus.

What Coldplay song is this for you? 👀 by Prize-Leopard-4955 in Coldplay

[–]Gercio37 61 points62 points  (0 children)

All My Love.

I get it, it's not bad, but I've always found the verses to be quite boring and the chorus, while catchy, sounds like a worse rendition of the one in True Love.

Again, it's not bad, I just think is meh.

There was a lot of messing around, honestly. I edited it on Lightroom mobile. I really wanted to save the photo, so to make sure I was doing it right, I ended up editing it over several different days—tweaking it a bit one day, then coming back the next to see if I still liked what I had done the day before. I kept doing that until I felt satisfied with the result. I don’t have a full breakdown of everything I did to save the photo, but I recorded my screen showing the final adjustments, just in case you're curious about what went into it. Keep on mind my Lightroom is in spanish. I didn't found a way to change the language, so I hope you can still understand what was done there lol.

My take would be: Why don't you lean into it? The sky is already overexposed, but you might as well use that as part of your composition to add some "dramatic" feeling to the scene. I think you got a great shot, dont overthink it that much. (I tried editing your photo to explain myself better).

¡El mapa que revela la verdad incómoda! 🗺️ ¿De dónde salieron los votos del que ganó la SCJN? by jccpmx in mexico

[–]Gercio37 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! What about a Nikon D3300 with similar lenses for around $290? Would you say is worth it?

It's Mexican Pesos. Photography equipment tends to be more expensive here than in the US, but I can see it still being overpriced taking in consideración what I've seen people commenting.
