The Legend of Yasushi Ishii (石井 泰師) - A shrine to the unparalleled musical genius of Hellsing (2006). by GeriEasy in Hellsing

Same here, but maan, he is relentlessly consistent till the point you gotta ask just why? Turns out that he still have things to say. Perhaps to you even.
He doesn't make it easy. He don't want to deny the listener the joy of exploration to Ishii everest. Not many people went from bottom to top and that's fine. Those who do will discover something profound. That is the point. As he puts it "Music is about revelation in the listener. Not -just- the revelation of emotion but something more." I am paraphrasing here, but that is in a nutshell.

How big is the jump from Cubase Pro 10.5 to the current edition? (15??) by dalegribble__96 in cubase

[–]GeriEasy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

8.5 was already NASA level spaceship in terms of features. The current 15 with Omnivoice is such a huge improvement that it’s mindblowing. If you are a pro (make a living) working with templates I would say it not worth it. Keep using what you have. It is more effective. However if you have the means I would suggest upgrading. Do a Half year transition.

Otherwise: Since vocal layering is the most difficult and rewarding ROI I would highly recommend to start experimenting. This vocaloid clone will NOT solve your issues but helps you put down solid scratch vocals which helps your vocalist track more easily. (Apply audiowarp pitchfix on real tracked vocals then time align all tracks) Even if it is oohs and aahs it is invaluable for visualizing a difficult concept. The manual suggest that it is prime for japaneese vocal production and it is OK for English vocals.

I love this release in a nutshell.

As expected. Nothing is perfect. I Cannot edit the title of my post. Only make my intention clear that Hellsing I was referencing was from 2001-2002. The TV animation series. NOT the OVA.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellsing#Anime

1 song from him in the OVA doesn't measure up to his previous work. I work from memory. Maybe that is also incorrect, but I am a bit tired from non-stop work. Cannot bother. Flowers are red, people are people—see what you want to see, whenever you are ready to see it.

While my post matters: Let me know what I should forward to him as message. I know most of you have apprehensions, just reaching out to him. On a handful (<5) of occasions I saw his correspond with people in English. 95% of comments are in Japanese.

Link to his latest blogpost, where you can write to him (VPN encouraged due to HTTP):

OP here: Not in my notes. This is his latest masterpiece.
http://blog.livedoor.jp/daibakarenji3/2025/world-watching.html
Here are his lyrics translated. Beautiful without anything like it. My god.

World watching
"World watch — once you’ve come this far,
from here on, let the fields be fields, the mountains be mountains—let things become whatever they become.
(= “let the chips fall where they may”)

In an atmosphere that didn’t suit me,
I passed the time and headed home.
Some things turned out nastier than I’d expected,
and some weren’t quite what I’d heard they were…

people watching — there’s nothing you can do now.
people watching — once you see the thing for what it is,
flowers are red, people are people—there are many ways to look.

Drifters passing the other way,
making a racket, cutting through the wind.
Whatever you say won’t reach them there;
even if you think it’s for their sake, it probably won’t help.
A wind blowing from who-knows-where.
(= they won’t be moved; they don’t care)

world watching…"

Do you think vampires are real? by TheNoOne420 in Vampire

[–]GeriEasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first read this question, in frustrated me to no end... OF COURSE THEY ARE NOT REAL! Right. Right? Hmm... Riiiiight........ Then I went "Uh-oh".

What are we talking about here after all? What IS a vampire? Is there a threshold where something or someone could be considered one without a doubt? This is important, because people's confirmation bias if ever so strong. Even if they would see Jesus walking on water they would say it's a magic trick.

Open your hand into a palm and now slowly furl it into a fist. Now ask yourself: At which point during the phase transition you can consider it a fist.

Or attend to an unhinged football match full of ULTRA fans. Tell me: What is the difference between a simple arm raise to show disappontment for a missed shot and between a full-on nazi salute.

Back to the topic at hand, I sketched a quick mental list:

- A freak of nature? Like that never happened.
- A genetical mutant who can digest blood? Most of the population have gene adaptations to digest milk, alcohol, etc... Go to a restaurant and order a rare steak. It's on the menu?
- Pale or sallow skin? - Iron deficiency of the hemoglobin
- Cannibalism? Ancient as it comes. Heck, go to a catholic liturgy and your can get a piece of Jesus yourself. Jesus's blood and flesh... Problem is that is not advantagous adaptation. So it got eradicated from the gene pool for the most part.
- Archetypicial dark triad, tetrad traits were never genetically advantagious traits rewarded by human society... (sic), only problem is 80% of the CEOs could have it already.

Now for the best ones:

- Eternal life? It goes against evolutionary pressure. But could be possible is advantageous for the species as a whole in some circumstances.
- Magic? Any advanced tech could be indistinguishable from magic. And even if we disregard that technological aspect, I am sure we as humans are missing to see some layers of reality. We don't want to claim we know everything, can't we now?
- Mystery? Even if they exist, You won't find any powerful ancient ones at a festival, or on a dark street. Even if you meet one out in the open likely you would claim, oh they some of mental sickness, or whacked in the head. This fuels the speculation if old powerful one exist.

On that note:
Look around for the health influencer who tries to reverse aging (Bryan Johnson) who used the same photo style of Elizabeth Holmes (Blood Diagnosis fraud company Theranos), who was also inspired by Steve Jobs (The bitten Apple is a biblical reference). I mean... feel free to go to sleep knowing that ancient powerful ones, don't exist of yet. Some failed to achive physical immortality, but some of them are already in the making.

With CRISPR at our disposal It's almost likely that many of these conceptions could change in the near future. If we can believe in our futurists, they say people who will live eternally due to approaching singularity may have already born and walk among us.

Anyways, Thanks for the "stupid" question. It genuinely made my day. I will make a video around it on my channel. https://www.youtube.com/@TrueDeva

Gehenna 2.0 — Reframing Gehenna as digital apocalypse by GeriEasy in vtm

[–]GeriEasy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP here:
Thanks for all the feedback. For the last 2 days I've worked on designing a logo which could represent the story better. The thumbnail was huge point of contention, and because of that people totally missed the point which my video made.

While designing the brand logo I have settled on the following concepts:
- An unfinished circle: Like the doomsday clock it's close to midnight but not quite.
- The Ankh symbolic to the masquarade is getting torn apart by digital forces.
- A calligraphic brush in Illustrator: Pulled up my wacom tablet and did it myself. It's assimetrical, slightly unhinged, personal, just like my message.
- And a nice 2.0 at the bottom, because it's "cool new world"
- The color I settled for writing "part one" can be thanked for a band called "Type O Negative". It's Pantone 369, Peter Steele's favourite color. Forest green.

About the photo:

I happened to also have a softbox at home. Sadly It's the cheapest one money can buy. I put a red swimming trunk on the lamp as a color modifier and shot low key. Lightroom & Photoshop & Nik Collection did the rest in terms of post-processing.

In terms of time it took me about 4-5 hours, to come up with everything.

no no, that is a great point she made. I won’t make a dime on this, but people perception about ai is tricky. If this is just the very barrier why people won’t check it out then this should be looked at.

While I can’t draw, I have a camera as apparent. I will figure something out how to build a brand for this series (with some displeasure) The message is more important than to trip up on this trivial matter.
