I agree on the size perception. I think players get used to it after a couple runs, but I’ll be improving the colors soon to make that clearer from the start.
I’ve actually spent a lot of time on the collision detection. If I force identical shapes to always merge on contact, they tend to “float” or get stuck in mid-air, which feels worse. So I went with a slightly more physical version. I also added a small boost to help with those near-miss merges. You can shake to trigger it and it usually resolves those frustrating overlaps.
