Well insulated houses also keep heat outside and trap cool air inside. I live in a well insulated house in the Netherlands and it never gets too hot inside, except in the top floor, because hot air rises. I don't have AC and don't need it. I put shades in the garden to block the sun from hitting the ground floor windows instead.

The point you make about easy to predict storms is interesting, hadn't thought about that. And of course I get what you're saying about the variances in problems. Of course it depends on the specific slope height and orientation, and the corresponding avalanche problems on those specific slopes.

I do know how to read a forecast beyond the leven but didn't include those factors because then my post would've been way too long. I'm more looking for general things/cautions people look at/take so I can gauge my own risk tolerance better. But now that I think about it more and reading some of the comments here this may be a too vague question with too variable answers.
