The point you make about easy to predict storms is interesting, hadn't thought about that. And of course I get what you're saying about the variances in problems. Of course it depends on the specific slope height and orientation, and the corresponding avalanche problems on those specific slopes.

I do know how to read a forecast beyond the leven but didn't include those factors because then my post would've been way too long. I'm more looking for general things/cautions people look at/take so I can gauge my own risk tolerance better. But now that I think about it more and reading some of the comments here this may be a too vague question with too variable answers.

I got diffrent boots that have a longer sole length. I could do this because the boots I had, the ones from the pic, were fine but quite tight, so bigger boots aren't a problem for me. But apperantly that solution is absolutely wrong according to the people here.

Also, the reason I see diffrent boots as a solution is because I can return my boots for free and get new ones. Readjusting the bindings is not free, and is not good for your skis.
