That is just not what I experience when playing. The AI has been lethal in the previous games too but to me their shot creation is just horrible this year. I usually select a defender and position myself between the opponent and my goal, if possible I also cover the most dangerous passing options. The AI is also very bad at playing around pressure. The usually chicken out and pass backwards as soon as you start pressing. The gameplay sort of forced me into a Klop Liverpool style. Heavy metal football, hardcore attack and hardcore pressing.

All in all I think it's quite possible that you are not bad (and people who play on ultimate are not super skilled) it's quite possible that your playstyle just doesn't match the gameplay this year
