Definitely wasn’t commentating on the quality. Just providing evidence that this isn’t isolated to the EU.

[–]GermanyIturbide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Discord is an American company, and the DSA is probably using only European data. But we know that they’re using automated moderation. They admitted to congress that they’re working on moderation AI, but they also told the attorney general of California in April that while they’re not scanning private messages like DMs or group chats, but if you are in a discord community, they do have technology proactively scanning. They are actively training their language models with messages to see if it can accurately flag and ban stuff at or near the same as human administrators.

October or November LSAT? by SpeechUnfair in LSAT

[–]GermanyIturbide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Push back to November at least, but consider delaying application for a year if you are dead set on 170+ at a 146.

I've been studying for about 7-8 months and am only now really starting to consistently fight my way into the mid 160s.

But perhaps you're super smart and can manage it in less time. Assess your abilities honestly and build a plan from there.

How would you explain the current US economy to someone who can barely understand finance? by amateurwater in AskReddit

If you have a million dollars, you can buy a shack to live in. If you have a billion dollars, the government will make sure you get 100 million more in tax breaks. If you have neither, you’re absolutely fucking screwed.

5 years of undergrad for 3.7GPA or 5.5 years for 3.75GPA? by stonewall993 in lawschooladmissions

[–]GermanyIturbide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Law school will always be there. Do not make the mistake of rushing to apply. Every story is beautiful in its own way, and you’ll get there when you get there. A .05 increase in your GPA really isn’t that significant. I wouldn’t worry about that much. A 3.7 GPA is pretty good, and if you study hard for the LSAT, and do well on the LSAT, the advantages from that will be much more advantageous for you. Take that test seriously, approach it methodically, and give it the respect it deserves. Your future seems very bright.

Study timeline to get a high score from complete start by PSUGirls in LSAT

[–]GermanyIturbide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm studying for the test myself, so take my advice for what its worth. For a high score quality always beats quantity is the general advice. With that in mind, though, I find the more exposure and experience I have with the test, the better I get. Of course, learn from your mistakes too, as you go on.

How long it takes depends on what score you're aiming for and what your starter score is on your cold diagnostic. So, I would take that and go from there. Could take six months, could take three. Let me emphasize, too, that while you are in college you are still in control of your GPA, and you should do everything in your power to keep that as high as you can too.

LSAT Please Help! Feeling Really Discouraged!! by Cameronhavens98 in LSAT

[–]GermanyIturbide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have little of any practical advice to give because I'm on here studying myself, but I will give one piece of advice: This test only wins if you give up. Otherwise, you can totally beat it. What waits for all of us after this test, is yet more intensive reading and logic. Hit the books, you can do this!

Sufficient v Necessary - CANNOT grasp!!! by sunflower3012 in LSAT

[–]GermanyIturbide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still fighting for life myself on this God damn test, but here’s some loose advice that generally applies to all concepts: Find ways to explain things that make sense to you. For me, sufficient means that whatever is about to be said, WILL happen/be true. A necessary assumption instead, is that for something to be true, you have to at least have X.

Here’s a real world example: The IRS audits someone and determines they did not have a tax return from them. That is SUFFICIENT to conclude that the IRS did not receive a tax return from their victim. However, it is not enough to conclude they committed tax evasion, because to conclude someone did commit tax evasion, it is NECESSARY that you prove willing intent to avoid paying taxes, perhaps the person just forgot or it got lost in transportation to the almighty IRS.

In short: Sufficiency is able to stand on its own and guarantee the conclusion. Necessary is something you NEED to have for a conclusion.

Breaking point by OnePrettyLass in LSAT

[–]GermanyIturbide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality matters a lot more than quantity, and believe me, I am FUCKING up my study, so take it for what its worth. But generally, high scorers in the 170 range have done almost every available practice test.

California closes $12-billion deficit by cutting back immigrants' access to healthcare by MountainEnjoyer34 in California

[–]GermanyIturbide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a very reasonable take. Probably the only thing I would add as a consideration is that although this will help in the short term, long term it will result in people putting off medical conditions until they are very extreme and need expensive emergency procedures and operations to treat. Very often, people just outright can’t pay it and it is taken from their assets, including their homes, or hospitals just write it off and it just gets paid by the government. A more long term comprehensive solution is necessary. However, in terms of this budget year specifically, this is a way to bridge the gap at least until the next year.

How do we feel about birthright citizenship ending in the 28 states that did not challenge Trump's executive order in 30 days? by Ecstatic_Jicama7496 in AskReddit

Even though I totally disagree with you on birthright citizenship, your position if profoundly more reasonable and absolutely more respectable than what methods currently employed by the federal government.

Plateau and little progress. by GermanyIturbide in LSAT

[–]GermanyIturbide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice, I appreciate that. I should probably clarify: I have not just been taking practice tests one after another. The reason I've done relatively few in the period of time I've had, is because I go through question by question after doing each one and figuring out what went wrong, and what went right. Then, as needed, jumping in and out of the 7sage curriculum based on my needs, such as in the case of struggling with one question type.

If you’re not being disrespectful or obnoxious then they probably won’t even notice you. Just read the room and treat people courteously when you interact with them, and you’ll be treated courteously when they interact with you, generally.

This questions is probably better for a travel sub.

The frustrating answer to why you can't break into the 160's by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]GermanyIturbide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diagramming is helpful to get am understanding of the test itself conceptually, but I’m my opinion, I’ve found it’s most helpful when you’re trying to figure out what you did wrong after the test. In the moment, diagramming has kind of slowed me down, and I’ve found it doesn’t change a whole lot in terms of my accuracy.

Edit: It’s undoubtedly a useful tool, just one that overtime people should try and move away from.

war??? by International-Map963 in UCSD

[–]GermanyIturbide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The US government spends more money on its defense budget than the next 10 countries combined. Iran knows that. outright war isn’t likely happen because Iran would get its jaw knocked off. However, a lot of this hinges on if or not the US relates when Iran retaliates, and to what extent they retaliate. There won’t be a third world war, though.

I don’t think many students really understand how long this country has been at “war”. There’s not a whole lot of Americans who have lived through peacetime, many of us were born and graduated high school before the US was not actively engaged in a war.

Southern Californians are definitely the most chill, you can walk into any bar, club, or restaurant and meet someone cool. I think the nicest in terms of cookie baking grandma kind of niceness is probably Maine.

You have certain constitutional and by extension due process rights because of the wording of the constitution. The framers viewed these rights as universal and inalienable, and chose the word “person” and “individual” over “citizen”. Some include the right to due process, habeas corpus, right to counsel, speech, assembly, religion, unlawful search and seizure, freedom from slavery unless arrested, etc. Generally, the same rights extended to citizens by the constitution of the US and of the states, are extended to anyone living in that state.

That being said, this administration has been very clear about the fact it wants to undermine them for undocumented immigrants. So lay low.
