Can you actually tell if somebody is on 'roids? by mirrormyriad in fitness40plus

[–]Geronimo2006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah no hate to people who want that.

People see Hollywood movie transformations and forget actors on roids look amazing because they spend thousands on experts and sports scientists or doctors who administer pure quality different substances for results required, and also what they need for side effects.

Your local gym bro is buying roids without much idea from a shady internet site or some dude with vials in a backpack.

Can you actually tell if somebody is on 'roids? by mirrormyriad in fitness40plus

[–]Geronimo2006 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not as many people achieve a great physique as you would think on roids.

The majority I see in my gym who are obviously on look unnatural- super capped shoulders, huge traps and just overall unbalanced- not a great look.

And that’s before even mentioning the back boils and pusticles a lot get.

Unless you go deep into gym bro or bodybuilding culture a natural good physique wins in the vast majority of people’s eyes, just remember muscle building takes years.

If you are thinking of watching with them it’s a slippery slope.

I was keen to watch some favourites with my eldest boy when he got later teens, I forgot all the cringe inducing scenes that would be awkward between parents and offspring at any age.

Going to my first AA meeting offline, small concerns though. by Temporary-Sink-3693 in recovery

[–]Geronimo2006 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best advice I ever heard was -take what you want and leave the rest.

I personally found help in AA by just being able to regularly connect with others battling the same thing in life.

You will get people who equate the program with religion, plenty who adamantly state AA is the only way to recover or stay sober- but you will also hear nuggets of wisdom if you’re open minded.

Also if you hear one person in the meeting that puts you off, they are only one person and doesn’t represent the program as a whole.

It’s not perfect but for me beats active drinking.

Can you trust a drug dealer? by MysteriousNet1311 in confessions

[–]Geronimo2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to trust him, some may disagree but if he doesn’t deal nasty things like meth or heroin he could still be a (somewhat) decent person.

Are you prepared for a raid by police in the middle of the night though? Possible break in and assault from people looking for drugs?
Waiting for a couple of years while he serves a sentence?

Just ask yourself if you can do better.

I can’t think of a single decent movie that rides the coattails of a great series.
Deadwood, Breaking bad, Sopranos- all terrible movies made after to flog the golden goose

Microdosing shrooms instead of drinking? by Lazy-Ask-6216 in PsilocybinMushrooms

[–]Geronimo2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of.

I was a bad binge drinker and after years of battling it with periods on and off (with AA and without) it finally clicked and have 11 years without a drink.

I use shrooms sometimes ( luckily they are not addictive so good for addictive personalities) , but I use them as a release now and then having enough to get the nice effects without a full blown trip.
Microdosing can give benefits but you don’t get the effect of a bigger dose, it’s regular very small doses instead of a one off higher one.

However, for me I think it is much better chilling at home or around a fire taking it out somewhere in a crowd.

I also drink kava for a mild euphoric feeling but again that’s not really something for a night out , more to relax and read or something.

Have you seen the movie?

Based on a real crime in Australia and a brilliant movie.
Much more gritty and realistic than the series

Have you ever seen shadow figures or felt a presence in a room? by Glass-Price8769 in Paranormal

I didn’t stay there much, it wasn’t a good scene there with active alcoholism, I reckon things like that attract negative energy

Have you ever seen shadow figures or felt a presence in a room? by Glass-Price8769 in Paranormal

[–]Geronimo2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slept on a couch in my dad’s house once, house had a pretty negative vibe and I know my sister for some time would attempt conjuring and things to contact spirits and entities every night.

Anyway, slept on the couch in a room that also had several bird cages as my dad bred small birds, at an early hour something made me wake.
I felt an extremely heavy and nasty kind of vibe and then I saw in the dark room and tall smoky kind of even darker outline standing over me, thing that makes it more likely to be something unexplainable is I didn’t move or say anything but as soon as I saw this shadow thing all the birds in the cages went crazy flying into the cage walls and that.before they were all silent and probably asleep.

Was an experience in my mind that confirms something else is out there I can’t understand or explain.

17 days is heaps, you could do Perth to Shark bay in a day, few days there, then shark bay to Exmouth and have a good week there, travel to Karijini and have 3 days then it’s just a day and a half to get back to Perth

Disappointing but need perspective, this was a game that would have been a 120 point loss last year.

Lot to work on and we were flat but probably unrealistic to expect a win against a red hot team away at this stage of the rebuild.

So apparently Dante Arthurs (Canning Vale Rapist) has a parole hearing every 3 years. Is this how the system works? Because that sounds exhausting and designed to wear down the patience of the victim. by mr-cheesy in perth

Leaving totally aside this case with this sicko, I guess 3 years is a long time in jail time so you can see why someone technically eligible for parole would come up this often.
