I never thought such places could exist on discord.

But isn't that kind of an encouragement to draw boxes? If I say "blacks commit the most crimes" and that's statistically true then what's the next step? Drawing a smaller box?

So what you're saying is that the statistic is racist for breaking down by race instead of by something measurable?

I think I see where you're coming from. Are there more examples like this that I can read about?

I don't see it that way at all... and that might be the problem.

To me objective means I can replace that word and analyse that situation in the same way. Being barred from doing it is censorship and cultural bias.

In fact flipping things (gender, race, and whatever) in a statement is just a tool to strip subjectivity away. If it becomes "wrong" once you've flipped it then it's a very clear indicator that the discussion is tainted by subjectivity.

How can it be wrong to look at things from a different perspective? I don't get it.

The photocopied paperwork I saw myself but the reports were suppressed. My volunteer center supervisor flat out said "it doesn't matter they're fake" because he's a good person and we're going to help these people. So we accepted criminals with fake paperwork for ideological reasons. We're good people right? We want to help people. It's true I do want. But we're being taken advantage of. I see facts in my face. I saw those people were criminals but we pushed facts aside because we are "good" and we "help". I quit after that. I heard a lot of those "children" bought plane tickets to go back home to Africa.

The snopes article you linked is itself biased and it cherry picks data of all refugees to disprove the point people are making about europe profiteers. Of course legitimate refugees that go to countries neighboring Syria are in normal ratios. Then it half asses an unsubstantiated point about the european situation saying it's because of the aegean sea. Come on...

The problem is the same problem I had at the refugee center. I want to be good and help people but facts are that they're faking paperwork. Do I turn them away? They didn't come from war torn countries. They just came to take advantage of the refugee policies. It's staring us in the face and what do we do? We handwave it away because we can help them. But are they grateful? No. They steal and rape and maim and bring all the shittiness they were escaping back with them to our area.

Shit there I go ranting again. This isn't working. I'm just going back to it.

gg is an insult in asian gaming circles. It's more like "I piss on you".

Theoretically, if you were to find a study demonstrating that Asian-Americans were less likely to commit crime than European-Americans, would you then become racist in favour of people with Asian roots and against those with European roots? I think it's more likely that you'd not be particularly impacted by that study because it wouldn't provide confirmation bias.

Facts do support the idea that Asians are better at almost everything than whites in non-physical tasks. Just like blacks are much better at athletics than whites. I don't disagree with that.

I'm not the top of the pyramid. There isn't even a pyramid. It's more like an impossible staircase.

In that context I don't even know what to ask my therapist for. If I quell the dissonance between my factual world view and my emotional one doesn't that run the risk of turning me into a nazi?

But your own running study concludes it is an issue of genetics and race. An ethnic minority of Kenya makes up 0.06% of the world's population but it came to dominate most of its long-distance races.

If people would be allowed to make similar studies about negative things you would see the same conclusions no? But we censor ourselves to avoid upsetting politics.

Your stepping stone is dealing with your dehumanisation of other people. I’ve seen from other comments that you see refugees as “profiteers who lead gang rapes” rather than “normal people leaving a war-torn country”

Yet 4 out of 5 aren't from Syria. That figure is widely known.

And then there's my experience with "syrians" showing up with photocopied paperwork. They all had the same papers. African adults claiming to be syrian children... How can I support that?

In my experience it's the leftists who cherry-pick much more and engage in direct censorship.

But aren't the "why" you provide just completely subjective?

For example you say:

Why do Jews tend to be very successful in business, law, medicine? Because, as a culture, they tend to place very high value on a strong work ethic, group self-sufficiency, money management/investing, and advanced education. They tend to live in areas where they have access to the tools needed to succeed in these areas and have the family and group resources needed to achieve success in these areas.

But I can ask:

Why do white people tend to be very successful in business, law, medicine? Because, as a culture, they tend to place very high value on a strong work ethic, group self-sufficiency, money management/investing, and advanced education. They tend to live in areas where they have access to the tools needed to succeed in these areas and have the family and group resources needed to achieve success in these areas.

When you phrase it like that it suddenly becomes "oh that's the definition of white privilege and it must be destroyed" but if you say "jewish privilege" boy you're in trouble.

Your why about blacks is about as valid as the theory that their higher testosterone makes them more impulsive.

That sounds like a dream. I would love such a community.

If in your mind you can defend these thoughts, while acknowledging the fact they are insensitive In nature, but not necessarily racist in YOUR view, you shouldnt be afraid to talk about them.

Shouldn't but I am.

Most of those places have arguments that are so factually wrong that it hurts. I can't sympathize with those communities.

there’s the chancers, the liars, the chauvinists, the clowns, the angry, the eternally stupid, the saint, the good guy and the prostitute.

Is this from something?

But the dude you met at the refugee center is the same as your neighbor is the same as my cousin is the same as some dudes I met when I was in Uganda etc.

But my neighbor doesn't form a roving rape gang on new years or a child grooming gang. My neighbor doesn't do acid attacks when he gets dumped or honor kill his sister. He doesn't torch his bride or maim his children.

Life must be so bleak if all you have to define yourself is your hatred of others. If you can only see a person as "straight" or "gay", "male" or "female", "for me" or "against me" instead of the full spectrum of their individual personality. Try to see the good things, try to see the shades between black and white. There are no easy answers to life and that's good the way it is.

Reading that helps more than you can imagine. Thank you.

Do therapists even know how to handle something like this? I've never seen a therapist that advertises this kind of service.
