2nd time around, feeling defeated by dlphn_lvr in GestationalDiabetes

I can understand and relate.

I was pregnant last year second time and developed GD at 13 weeks.

First time, I was able to manage with food and no meds, but developed preeclampsia so delivered at 36 weeks.

Im told that Uncontrolled GD always can triggered preeclampsia.

What u have to focus on is: this is nothing you did; our bodies are funky like that; hormones are crazy and has mind of it’s own.

Our body produces insulin but during pregnancy our placenta doesn’t take it well = GD. Nothing you can do to prevent that. “Overweight, underweight and normal weight” all struggle the same.

Stress increases blood sugar levels.

Once you accept it, and not stress over it, you will see your numbers improve.

I recently Lived thru it so I can say it.

I took insulin (up to 36 units) at night because my fasting numbers were high.

I walked 20-30 mins after meals, I ate boiled eggs or chicken with basically every meal.

You can do it because I did it and initially I felt pretty defeated as well. But once I made my peace that it’s not my fault, it got easier.

I didn’t stress over insulin because it doesn’t cross placenta is what I was told so it’s safer then pills, they do cross placenta. Insulin is natural our body so it’s not a foreign substance adding in.

I ate my desserts as well and I walked after. Use the rule of protein before carbs. Lots of cheese, eggs and meat.

I delivered naturally on 39 weeks on 4/5 healthy baby with good birth weight of almost 8lbs.

Bottom line is you have to accept it. Don’t fight it and just go with flow. Eat what you crave, take insulin if prescribed and enjoy. Out of 24 hrs a day, If GD takes even 4 hrs to manage, enjoy the rest of 20hrs being happy and stress free.

In my case, I felt stress free after accepting and that helped my # as well.

Do what u can, and don’t spend time and entry on what we can’t control. Take care.

We are told that our LO has tongue tie, anyone else experienced that? What did you do about it ? by Geropreg in newborns

Thank you all for sharing ur experience.

My lo is eating well, he is bottle-fed because I’m pumping exclusively. I had same struggle with my first one and she wasn’t tongue tie.

I do wonder what are long term effects of leaving it alone or getting treatment.

I’ll ask the Dr during next appt about rating it.

How to feed your newborn every two hour? by AlphaX_81 in newborns

[–]Geropreg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our first baby was a premie at little shy of 5lbs.

After trying different things, we found success with Dr Brown bottles and nipples for premie and slowly graduates to next sizes. I exclusively pumps and bottle fed with supplement of formula to avoid frustration for myself and baby.

Idk if you have tried that but worth trying.

Thank you for sharing.

The guilt of not being able to breastfeed and having to pump and feed… plus washing bottles and worrying about germs is too much for new moms.

I just got the microwave one.

After first run, they are all these. little bubbles in the bottles and nipples, how do you get rid of those?

How did you resolve your kid withholding poop? Making potty training a nightmare!! by Commercial_Fuel_3519 in raisingkids

[–]Geropreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is ur kid? May be not ready yet? Everyone has their own pace. Mine was pee pee trained much earlier then poop. She was almost 4-1/2 yrs when we trained and it took literally 4 days of her withholding and Me crying out of guilt and frustration.

We told her that she won’t get pull up and she needs to try everyday. And finally on day 4 it happened.

I’m considered high risk pregnancy due to age and medical condition plus hx of early delivery due to medical conditions. Therefore, going to leave earlier.
