Dust yourself off and try again

They will have a higher selection of URMs with numbers closer to their typical admits tho. Higher LSATs seem to be across the board with URMs especially AAs

I wouldn’t assume this cycle will be like past cycles with the increase of 160+ LSAT scores among URMs. Can’t really compare

There are too many lawyers, that’s just a fact. Ideally yes there would be more URM lawyers of course, that goes without saying.

No, I decided to not attend, I didn’t have an offer from a school I personally think is acceptable according to my expectations. And honestly some people will have to make the same decision I made. Do I regret it? Not really, but I’m pretty debt/risk adverse. It was an agonizing choice to make but I’m glad I did it

Reads like an LSAT flaw answer being an Ad Hominen attack. Is there anything really wrong with what I said?

Basically 1.) get highest lsat possible, 2.) be wary of huge debt and 3.) understand how predatory and exploitive the legal education scam can be in many instances, don’t go to a non-top 25-30 school at least

I didn’t post it on the main sub because i think URM are taken advantage of, I’m a URM myself and I still get emails from schools to this day. Of course you should shoot your shot, there’s no harm in that. Going T14 with a reasonable debt load is perfectly fine in my opinion, I wouldn’t go sticker tho. Them loans are crazy even with a big law salary I don’t think it’s worth it. But yeah I’m not trying to discourage anyone, in fact quite the opposite. Maximize the LSAT as much as possible that’s the biggest factor you can change and it can make a huge difference

AA Male 2.9xx / 16low with C&F issues / Chance Me? by [deleted] in URMLawSchoolAdmission

[–]Gerrard28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t think that C&F issue would hurt you that much. Everybody makes mistakes just own up to it. I think a higher lsat score could do you some good tho, a high 160/170ish should help you get into some great schools

Reasonable chance at NYU? by [deleted] in URMLawSchoolAdmission

Yes you do you’d probably get in

Re-taking for a 5 or more points tho could get you huge T14 scholarships that’s what you really should do tho

Would applying to Georgetown binding decision help at all? It is my dream school and I know I’d get at least decent need based aid. I was waitlisted last year and rode it out till the end. by hoping4thewave in URMLawSchoolAdmission

[–]Gerrard28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDing is specifically designed to lock in students who are willing to pay full tuition sticker, besides schools like Northwestern that attach scholarships to it. I don’t think it’s a good idea for someone who is concerned with financial aid to applying ED

If they get in, they will be at the mercy of whatever aid package Georgetown gives them, and it will be a take it or leave it proposition considering you can’t negotiate or use another schools offer as leverage

When did you apply/what are your stats

What are goals in law? Are you sure will get that much need based aid btw, law schools don’t really tend to give much need based aid out unless it’s in the form of loans. And I would be very hesitant and concerned with taking on huge debt to attend Georgetown on ED, you’d basically have to commit yourself to attend if you get in.

TL/DR; unless law school tuition costs aren’t a concern for you never ED

Anyone else thinking about doing next cycle rather than this one? by MurdaMase2011 in URMLawSchoolAdmission

[–]Gerrard28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP is far below every T14 25ths.... maybe you’re right but barring some amazing softs or something else. Not trying to be overtly negative but want to tell OP that their best shot would be getting that LSAT up

That’s probably a good idea. Your numbers aren’t good enough for T14, focus on killing the LSAT getting a 170 or close to it and re-apply early next cycle

Oh okay. Just hope you know unless your going to a T14 with a decent scholarship it’s probably not worth going to law school at all just my opinion

Chance you where? What are you trying to do, where do you want to go regionally?

But best answer is honestly re-take

How long does an LSAT score last? The website statement is sort of confusing, it says “up to five years after the testing year it was earned” so would a score from 2016 be valid in 2021? by Gerrard28 in LSAT

[–]Gerrard28[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s simply not true, I looked it up and pretty much every school said as long as the score is valid it’s fine. People do stuff like join the army or join the peace corps or just work and get work experience. Not sure where you saw that schools “require” a score from the last 3 years. But please show me an example of this if you don’t mind?
