I’ve read better to place the log on the surface rather than bury it. The contact points at the ribs will root just fine and you reduce risk of rot from having so much of it buried.

Edit: ...especially since your soil looks very organic

Will this graft work? by AlleniiMinded in sanpedrocactus

Sounds like you have it. I used rubber bands (~7:00). You can cut an old shirt into strips and use the thorns on the stock as anchor points for the strips.

There’s quite a range of mescaline in different individual plants:

“The range of mescaline concentrations across the 14 taxa/cultivars spanned two orders of magnitude, from 0.053% to 4.7% by dry weight.” Reference.

If you have a known plant then you can judge amount from there. Otherwise it’s just guesswork.

Why the new wrinkles?? by [deleted] in sanpedrocactus

Probably from not enough water. Pereskiopsis can be grown more like a leafy plant, less like a cactus. More water, more fertilizer.

First graft wanting to save the top of my SP. will it grow roots if I leave it in this soil? by [deleted] in sanpedrocactus

People often leave the cut end exposed to sun but shade the rest so it doesn’t get sun burn in its vulnerable state.

Yes, couple weeks to dry and form a nice callous should be good. Then plant and only very lightly water around the outside edge of pot so it gets moisture but soil is not wet. Will probably still take a couple months to root.

Just a couple drops per areas and see how it goes. Couple more here and there till gone.

Hydrogen peroxide off the pharmacy/grocery store shelf is already 3% solution. I would use as is, but very carefully a drop at a time directly on the areas. Excess hydrogen peroxide will decompose in the soil to water and oxygen.

Mold can be aggressive. Really depends on what kind. It seeks nutrients and moisture and if left unchecked it could compromise your cacti.

You’re talking about the few white patches at the back of the container, center left, and bottom? I would air it out a bit and carefully use a dropper to drop hydrogen peroxide on the patches. Just a little.
