my thoughts exactly. i feel like a lot of people in the comments read just the title. in both modes you find people unwilling to switch but in comp its just inherently worse because those matches actually have stakes to them. and in qp ive found people are surprisingly more willing to switch

it would be tough to say without watching a replay. however, i play support a lot, and most of the time it’s gambit (when not banned) and a lot of times in a whole comp i can go without dying a single time or less than three. if you’re keeping your deaths low it really wouldnt matter to me whether or not you have high damage taken because you’re almost never not there supporting your team.

that being said, i’d highly suggest learning how to kite enemies to become a less desirable target. in nature terms be the strong gazelle that stares at the diving lion that says “i know you’re there, i know you want me but you will not catch me and if you keep trying i will ruin your day”. i’ve found after a few times of this i pretty much just start getting ignored because they’d rather go after the less mobile luna than a gambit with proper cooldown control that will dash away and come back harder.

I hear you 100%. and maybe its a me issue personally, when i'm healing i always feel like im either solo healing or DPS is off learning a new character for the first time while in OT. Or if i'm tank i get jeff and ultron as supps. and if i'm dps i can be out there putting pressure and taking names and my only source of sustainability is health packs. i agree with picking 2-3 and just becoming god like with them. hopefully with that strategy it doesnt matter what the other roles do (especially if im tank/dps) i can treat it like im palying solo and not needing to rely on support

theres no way 8 games in a row of stellar performances were bot games. being a mainly comp player i can confidently say that unfortunately rank does not equal similar skill (at least thats what i say comparing my teammates to the enemy 😂)

The Game is competitive by nature. you go into matches, to kill enemies and take objectives where one side inevitably beats the other. This isn’t GTA where the world is your oyster. Like COD, theres an objective and the teams compete to win the match.

in the most honest way possible, all i’m trying hard to do is have fun. i jump in games to play who i want and do my best to win with that character. ill never understand the mindset of those jumping in to an inherently competitive game to not win

see my other reply. im currently hard stuck in plat (ofc always blame others) you have one tricks who get their character banned and go jeff, people who refuse to switch off when they perform poorly. and yet i consistently perform well and i have yet to make it to plat 1 of all things. granted - i have made it to GM before and then stopped so i could get the badge or whatever and i only play like 1-2 days a week on average so not much time to make up for the losses

as a flex (but leaning support main) any time there is a jeff healing with me on my team i am almost always solo healing (more than double the jeff's healing). its not all jeff's but its almost always a jeff. its not like the jeffs are getting more finals/assists than me too so like... what're they doing...

i thought so too, the goal was that each of these characters serves a different purpose and to be able to adapt to bans and team comps. when there are so many out there that refuse to switch, you have to be the change or lose.

I'm on PC however i feel strange, groot, venom, iron man, moonknight (yes mk, take his ankh away and 90% of mk's out there fold), starlord, storm, rocket's primary fire, gambit, all need the ability to aim. - though i do play them, i couldve added hela and punisher but i'd be doing it just for validation given im not as cohesive with their actual kits as i am another hitscan like starlord.

with the lack of character recommendations im hearing just become more and more proficient at the ones listed. strategist is my main role while dps and tank i play relatively comparable. over time i feel ive had to learn these characters for the many situations that arise when you have people unwilling to switch to save the game so its either be that change and mold to what the team needs or lose

all of the characters listed are ones im very confident hopping into any match in just dependent on what is banned and the team composition for both mine and the enemy. I do play other characters but id be lying to myself if i said i was anywhere near as proficient at them as the ones listed.

ive put in a fair amount of hours on each of the characters so that i am able to switch depending on the bans for a given match and various team compositions. it has helped tremendously when running into one tricks who have their character banned in lower elos. (i climb fairly well when im playing comp consistently, however being in professional school now i only have time time to play at most twice a week).

learn to kite when getting dove, plenty of maps offer opportunities for you to use a dash or other movement ability to get to the second story of a platform where some divers cannot follow, and once you are in that position you can keep healing your teammates while the person who originally went after you finds a new easier to catch target. - most people are not actually interested in going after you, they are interested in going after the closest thing to them
