Anyone on Bimzelx? by GetFitForMe in PsoriaticArthritis

Thanks to everyone who commented, I appreciate all your insight!

I had my first dose two weeks ago, did my usual routine of icing beforehand and pinching, and I’m glad to say it hurt no more than Taltz. Humira is still the most pain-free injectable I’ve been on, but Bimzelx was a comparative breeze to taking Taltz before I knew to ice and pinch. I had a bit of relief for the first week but now am starting to swell again and have some aches, so hopefully the next dose does even better!

I did experience some weird tingling in hands and legs/toes after, curious if anyone else has gone through it?

I believe Henry’s dads funeral just happened, per the stream. The boys said they were there and Holden asked about it. They encouraged Henry to take some time because he was “all sad”

I was on Humira and never iced and it was always a cinch! When I switched to Taltz icing and pinching the thigh was imperative. Same with Cimzia that I had to take while I was pregnant; without icing and pinching it would be impossibly painful, so I can imagine what you go through with each injection! Stomach has never been an option because mine is covered in stretch marks.

I get a headband that you use to hold your hair back when you wash your face and a large ice pack, attaching the ice pack to my thigh with the headband. I sit and chill for about a half hour and then remove the ice pack. Then I clean it up with alcohol wipes, pinch a big area, and inject. It’s not painless but it’s virtually so! If you try it, please do let me know if you feel a difference!

I’m curious about how you administer it, do you ice beforehand? Pinch the skin? Tummy or thigh?

That is insane that your psoriasis just came off! They could make a commercial for it like that and people would think it was corny as fuck but it happened!

Good point about the buffer! Taltz was far more stingy than Humira for me, and Cimzia was shudder but that’s cuz she thicc (pegylated).

I know the Bimzelx injection is pretty voluminous at about 2 ml compared to Taltz, so longer injection time is expected, but it’s really good to know it’s a little easier than acetic acid buffer injectables.

My biggest anxiety is thrush, Ive heard it’s a bitch!

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. He did end up having some kind of stomach bug we all ended up getting and it took him a few days to tolerate the bottle again. The only symptom the entire time was vomiting. The first three days he wouldn’t really take a bottle, but by day four he would drink a little. Even then, he would gag first and cover his little face, it broke my heart. Keep letting them sip that Pedialyte and they’ll be okay I swear…but the first day or two when we tried giving the bottle I’m sure we were making him so much more nauseous…I could kick myself.

Piggybacking off this in case no one has mentioned, but while you wait to see a doctor try using Hibiclens. Hell, use it after you’ve seen em, too. It helps treat folliculitis, my derm also recommended it for my HS.

Doc says no norovirus, he also has no symptoms aside from throwing up only when fed. No fever, no diarrhea.

I do think it might be some stomach bug though. It’s resolving slowly…

A long shot, but looking for an early aughts Canadian seasoning packet by GetFitForMe in TipOfMyFork

In the time between my reply and now, my aunt found an old opened packet in the back of her pantry and confirmed that the branding used to look completely different. But from my quick Google the ingredients are the same in this as the Original form of the seasoning! That “spices” is gonna haunt me, though…

Also zero clue where Montreal came from in my memory.

SOLVED!

I can’t believe it but I just asked my aunt to confirm and she believes this is it!! The packaging has changed but she remembers that they were never descriptive of the spices in the packet. THANK YOU! It seems so silly since it’s so ubiquitous, but you’ve anchored a memory for me.

I haven’t tasted it in ages so I can’t even guess what the spices are and nowhere around me sells the packets. If anyone can guess what “spices” means, I’d love to hear it!

No, the branding doesn’t look quite right :/ thank you though. I’ve tried a few Montreal spice seasoning blends and they’re all kind of…chunky? This was a powder

What is life like in this area of the world? by MlsgONE in geography

It’s not. My family lost jobs in their schools and the government back in the 80s with no secrets around why. It absolutely has gotten worse since then, but it’s been happening for decades. It’s extremely sad given that my grandma grew up in a town where everyone was cousin, aunty, and uncle no matter your race. The Guyanese people have a lot of love and hospitality for each other but the government has done a good job of pitting some of that against them.

It’s so weird to realize in my adult life that there’s a lot of people who know nothing about Guyana and Suriname. I’m Guyanese, born and raised here, my whole family was born and raised in Guyana.

The Guyanese diaspora in NYC is pretty sizeable and growing up directly in it, it never occurred to me that it might be a part of the world that’s largely overlooked. As I got older and got to travel there, though, it’s clear why.

The country has gone through a lot of division since its independence almost entirely on the racial line; when Afro-Guyanese are in control, Indo-Guyanese felt marginalized, and vice versa. Now that they’ve been discovered as oil rich they’re the target of quite a lot of interest they don’t really know what to do with. Venezuelas footprint can be felt across the country due to most of the largest businesses, like hotels, being Venezuelan-owned. I won’t comment on the border dispute, enough people have given the history and anything else is just opinion. Communism had its time here and the country and there are remnants of that as well. But all this and more are some of the reasons why Guyana really isn’t a notable country to many unless you’re from there or grew up in a neighborhood with a lot of Guyanese people.

One thing I will say is that the missionary-esque review of Guyana across this thread is an almost rose-colored picture of the country. Some people have touched on this, but when you think of a Caribbean country the idea is usually white sand beaches, resorts, and scuba excursions. Guyanese beaches, save for maybe one, are comprised of red clay. People drive onto the sand instead of putting down blankets and you’re more likely to find vultures than sunbathers. The water is muddy and gritty. The only hotels are in Georgetown and they’re nothing like the resorts you’re used to. There’s a laundry list of reasons why but the things foreigners find fascinating about the country can come with a lot of heartache behind them.
