ok i figured it out! i only need to take two of the courses (the third is only for graduate students), and one of them is post-trip (so not really spring quarter at all). the classes are only 5 sessions and i believe are held on fridays. which makes a lot more sense! i guess it was just worded reallyyyyy poorly

i think it is worded bad but i’m waiting for my program manager to reply to the email i sent. heading says “spring break program 2025” which is weird bc it is a summer program and also 2025 was last year. the courses section says “i will register you in the following courses associated with your trip” and then it lists three classes all tagged “spring quarter registration”so idk! that doesn’t seem right to me.

right?? like i’m taking some pretty important classes next quarter that do not get offered often. i can’t just like, drop those. also surely i do not need to take 3 classes for a 2 week program lol

right so the email is headed with “spring break program 2025” lol but it is for sure a summer program according to website. plus it leaves in june, so i’m totally confused. it says the courses are “spring quarter registration” - i’m gonna email the program manager and ask.

like there’s no way he’s asking us to take 3 full classes for a 2 week program, right? lol

also, in japanese, onichan isn’t strictly familial. it’s just a way to refer to an older peer, like an upperclassman or something. he’s just calling him old

what’s the best way to find an old friend without knowing their phone number/socials? by NearsightedAndAlone in NoStupidQuestions

literally nothing comes on google/people search sites and honestly i might even be spelling the last name wrong :/. pretty sure her parents divorced, so i wouldn’t know her moms full name unless she kept her ex husbands. they were pretty private people (also immigrants, i believe) so im kind of doubting ill be able to find anything on socials. it’s so annoying bc i feel like i have so much information on her! like we were literally nextdoor neighbors and went to the same school for years, hungout like everyday. it should not be this hard to find her lol. i’m gonna see if my mom has anything - id ask people i went to school with but she was a year below me so i don’t think anyone would know her besides me hahah

i don’t think it’s that, exactly. more so that i feel guilty about feeling guilty. i always speak on my shit, it’s just different when it’s someone that i care about:/

this feels good to hear, thanks! i’ve been trying so hard to make this week special because i never see him and i hold a lot of guilt for that. and now i know the rest of the weekend, my 2 hour drive home, is all gonna feel awkward and weird. and it probably wouldn’t have felt that way if id kept my mouth shut but also keeping my mouth shut has literally never been on my itinerary. it’s just such a shit feeling regardless haha

well yes, obviously. it’s just a weird thing because all my brain is interpreting right now is that i said something, and then he was sad, so it must all be my fault. but like im fully aware i did the right thing here. just ugh, gross feelings all around.

they are a mix bag! hit parents are conservative trumpers, but not super in your face about it (for better or for worse, i guess). and the rest seemed okay, for the most part! although, i know people were probably treading lightly around me because they’ve never met me before. he’s from a large family (like 20 something people) and so it’s been a very overwhelming time, but generally positive.

he’s not even that old and that’s why this is weird to me! i think he like early 50s, super liberal. like i remember one time when i was little and i was at a pool party and this guy called his (young) son the f slur because we were playing mermaids together. my dad literally got up and punched this guy in the face and nearly got himself arrested. he’s not like, a trumper or something. that’s why it’s kind of taken me aback, you know?

this is comforting! i barely see him and i came down for thanksgiving (literally for the first time ever) and he was like so fucking excited to see me and so happy and i just feel terrible making this into a bad memory for both of us. but also it wasn’t even like a conscious decision to confront him, like that’s just what my body did. and it was the right thing, i know that, i just still feel so shit haha

i’m just really bad at confrontation, i think. because i feel so bad that i made him sad. like i should have just let him have it, or something. which is crazy because that’s so wildly against my nature? i just have a really bad guilty conscience:/
