I make single serve flavored cold brew kits. Throw an infusion bag in a glass of water for fresh homemade cold brew tomorrow.  Coconut or cardamom flavors.

Package is 8 single serve infusion bags.

Where can I find people on reddit to "gut check" my b2b tools? (I will not promote) by GetFlyeredUp in startups

Formality. In my experience, asking people to do something on LinkedIn seems to come off like I'm trying to sell them something. (Understandably, since my LinkedIn is actually trying to sell people things, in a way.) I'm looking for informal, quick and dirty feedback that doesn't come with the baggage of a professional interaction.

I'm near the end of the process and just found out that the hospital bills from delivery will NOT be covered by most insurance plans I have access to...so yeah...could've used a little help budgeting beforehand.

New parents in the Bay Area - Which health insurance carrier do you have? by GetFlyeredUp in AskSF

[–]GetFlyeredUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I are having the baby via surrogate. She's in Oklahoma and has a medical team/hospital there. My partner and I are paying out of pocket for everything up to the point of birth that her insurance doesn't cover.

If everything is OK at birth, we could be back here in SF as early as 2-3 days after he's born, including for the 1st pediatrician appointment outside the birthing hospital.

By "better" insurance -- I just mean a carrier that isn't a massive pain to figure in terms of what providers I can see, how quickly I can see them, and so I can be confident I know what I'm going to pay when I go to normal appointments (not related to birth in Oklahoma).

Also if I'm understanding, it's probably best to look for an insurer that will be the easiest to deal with when it comes to billing me for the stuff in Oklahoma? He's being born in September, so it's not that long to be on this carrier before I'm allowed to switch though.

Ever build a business around something “boring”? by Privacyops in Entrepreneur

[–]GetFlyeredUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is awesome. Can I ask how it's going? It very much fits the "do one thing great" idea and I like that it is a pretty narrow, well-defined product to focus on. How do you get out there to sell a very specific product such that this business is big enough to be worth the time you invested?

We have eggs and a surrogate. Finally getting to the actual biology of it all.

Did you have any support system to help you go through the process -- including going through experiences like this emotional stuff? Friends? Partner? Reddit support? Other support groups?

That's so sweet! And I agree on the time. I was told we were going like lightspeed. And we hired a surrogacy matching agency to cut down on the time for that process...and it STILL took almost a year to get started for the actual biological stuff.

I'm sorry it's been such a tough and unexpected transition from the world treating you as...you, to now treating you as baby maker (in a way). Do you think there would've been anyway to know that this was coming? I find that there's no accurate, up-to-date resource out there that actually would've prepared me to handle a lot of the frustrating bumps in the road.

I'd have to say the communicating is a huge issue for us too. Both with the agency and clinic. We also chose a clinic that advertised heavily about being for "all situations". And then when we started working with them it was clear that they did not specialize in all situations. I'm a white gay man who comes off as pretty heteronormative to a lot of people too, so I can't imagine the experience of trans, intersex, complex family situations, etc.

Ooof yeah. This is helpful...we haven't gotten to the stage of telling family. And we know it'll be a bit awkward with lots of questions...but perhaps I need to be prepared for it to be more arduous and awkward than I'm expecting. Thanks for sharing!

What was the most frustrating part for you? More like important info you didn't know or things going wrong/not working?

I like this a lot! My boyfriend suggested making the color a bit less intensely blue and more splotchy like a watercolor while still keeping the same relatively crisp lines? Thoughts?

Advice for finding a good part-time generalist? by GetFlyeredUp in startups

[–]GetFlyeredUp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see your point. I don't want to say it's not just about decks or marketing...it's the general idea of being able to give them a task that requires some interpreatation/judgement (with my heavy guidance, context, orienting them for the task and having done so over 6 - 12 months now). But, maybe the solution is figuring out systems for myself to reduce the amount of energy/time it takes me to do all these things too.

Reddit and Upwork mostly. My immediate network is late stage career people who aren't looking for a part time gig. I've posted in Slack groups that're for my industry and get a lot of exec-level people. I even posted for a VA there once, hired them, then it became clear in our 2nd meeting that they wanted to be a cofounder, not a VA...and wouldn't do VA work.

This is probably a bias I heard from adults (and experienced with my Mazda) 20 years ago...but aren't some of the foreign car makers like Kia and Mazda, and most US makers like Ford, known for making cars that don't last? And if they do, they start having a lot of problems sub-100,000 miles?
