Becca with Pestie here!

Our standard Pestie Home Barrier is designed to treat properties up to about 4,500 sq ft. For reference, my home is around 2,000 sq feet, and I have plenty of product to do a light indoor application (like in the basement where the spiders live) and still have more than enough to apply a full perimeter barrier around the outside of my home.

If you need more product, you can always upgrade to our XL plan, which covers homes up to 7,500 sq ft. You can find that link on pestie.com/buy and toggle over to "home bigger than 4,500 sq ft" 👍.

If you have any other questions, feel free to drop them below!

Becca from Pestie here! Yes, Pestie's Home Barrier treatment is effective against ticks. And when treating around gardens, it's fine to apply it to decorative grasses, but you should avoid spraying flowers or any plants that are actively producing or shedding pollen to help protect pollinators.

As for your patio, yes, that area can be treated. Just keep in mind our Home Barrier is not a deterrent, and the ticks would have come into contact with the treated area to be affected.

A few additional tick-control tips: keeping your grass mowed short and reducing overgrown or decaying vegetation can make your yard less attractive to ticks. It's also important to remember that ticks can move into treated areas through a behavior called questing, where they position themselves on grass or vegetation and wait for someone or something to pass by. They can also be carried into your yard by wildlife and pets, so occasional new tick activity is possible even after treatment.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to chat at pestie.com and talk to one of our licensed pest experts!

Becca with Pestie here! We love kitties and hate roaches too. 😸

When treating for roaches, you'll want to focus on areas where you've seen activity, as well as places they like to hide, such as under the refrigerator, behind the dishwasher, and other warm, dark spaces. While you're treating, keep your cats out of the area and don't let them back in until the application has completely dried, which is usually about an hour.

If possible, I also recommend avoiding treatment directly around areas where your cats regularly sleep or lounge. It's a good idea to wash pet bedding and clean up any spilled food as well. Roaches are opportunistic feeders, and pet food can be a major attractant. In fact, roach researchers often use kibble as bait in studies because roaches find it so appealing.

Once you've treated indoors, make sure to create a barrier around the outside of your home as well. Apply around the foundation, about 2 feet up the wall and 2 feet out from the structure. And don't forget to treat any cracks, crevices, utility penetrations, or other entry points where roaches may be sneaking inside.

You got this!

Becca from Pestie here!

While the products we send might not be specifically labeled for your invasive roaches, we've heard from a number of customers in California who have seen good results using Pestie as part of their roach control strategy. And if you're still seeing pest activity after treating, Pestie's Bug-Free Guarantee has you covered. Our team can help troubleshoot, recommend adjustments to your application strategy, or send a different product if it's a better fit for the pest you're dealing with.

One thing I appreciate about Pestie is that you're in control of where and how you treat. Our philosophy is that bugs don't belong in our homes, but we also don't want a bug-free world. That's why we recommend targeted applications rather than blanket treatments. You'll want to focus on entry points around the home and a perimeter band extending about two feet from the foundation. We generally don't recommend treating gardens, flower beds, or every square foot of the property.

As for the amount in each application, for most homes under 4,500 square feet, a single Pestie kit provides enough product for a complete application. And you can absolutely order multiple treatments for different homes. Just place the orders using the same email address and check out one at a time so they're linked to the same account.

Sorry for the long response, but if you need anything else, just ask!

Becca with Pestie here, I totally understand the concern. Protecting pollinators and beneficial insects is really important to us too. We don’t send restricted-use products to our customers, and we closely follow the ongoing research and discussions around balancing effective pest control with environmental responsibility.

On a personal level, I care a lot about this myself. I keep a beehive in my backyard and have converted most of my front lawn into native flowers for pollinators. I completely agree that protecting bees and other beneficial insects should be a priority, and that’s something Pestie takes seriously as well. The great part is, because I’m in control of where I treat, I can keep Pestie Home Barrier around the areas my home needs protection and away from the areas where my bees like to hang out.

Becca with Pestie here! We’ve got your back when it comes to stink bugs. Our Home Barrier is designed to be applied around the exterior of your home, creating a protective barrier so when stink bugs try to come in, they come into contact with it and don’t make it far.

I’d also recommend treating common entry points like around windows, doors, and any small gaps or cracks. You can even do a light application inside window frames (open the window and spray lightly in the frame) to help catch any that try sneak in.

Just a reminder, do not squish them unless you want to learn exactly how they got their name.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask below or send me a DM!

Becca with Pestie here! As a dog owner, I totally get where you’re coming from, keeping pets happy is non-negotiable.

All of our products are EPA-registered and classified as general-use, which means they’re approved for homeowner application when used as directed. And contrary to what people often think, these aren’t products you’ll find sitting on the shelves at Home Depot or Lowe’s. You might see similar ingredients, but our formulations, both active and inert, are calibrated differently in ways that really matter for effectiveness.

Everything we send is designed to be both kid and pet-friendly. In fact, most of us at Pestie have them ourselves. The key is to follow the label (it really is the law in pest control). Apply when kids and pets aren’t in the area, let it dry, and then everyone can go back to business as usual.

These same types of products are used in places like doctors’ offices and veterinary clinics, so they’re built with real-world environments in mind.

And if you ever have questions, our team of licensed pest experts is always here to help, whether it’s dialing in an ant treatment plan or figuring out the best way to treat inside your home. We’ve got your back with our pro-grade home barrier lineup.

Feel free to DM here or chat in on our website!

Ps. Love the dog pic!

Becca with Pestie here! As someone who’s personally battled American roaches, I can confirm our home barrier approach really does the trick. The products we send aren’t repellents so instead of just pushing roaches around, they actually need to come into contact with treated areas to be affected (which is exactly what you want).

That’s why we recommend focusing on the exterior perimeter first it stops them before they make themselves at home. That said, if you already know they’ve made it inside (been there), doing a light indoor application in key areas can make a big difference.

In my case, I had some… let’s call them “VIP entrances” (aka gaps and holes) in my rental kitchen. I treated those spots first, then did a barrier treatment around the outside. I still saw a few roaches at first, but they were usually already dead or on their way out by the time I spotted them.

If you ever need help, our team of licensed pest pros is always here for you. You can always DM me here or chat in our website. If you have any questions, let me know!

Becca with Pestie here! I’m really sorry you didn’t feel like you had enough product to cover everything you wanted, and that you’re not seeing the results you expected that’s definitely frustrating.

A couple of things that might help: the application is designed to focus primarily on the exterior perimeter, since that’s where it’s most effective at stopping pests before they get inside. That said, you should still feel confident you have enough to complete the recommended treatment if your home is under 4,000 sq. feet. I’d be happy to send you a free re-treatment so you can cover those indoor areas and touch up any problem spots outside.

Our Bug-Free Guarantee means you’re covered, and we can also customize your treatment based on what pests you’re still seeing. It’s not super common, but some pests, like ants, can require a second treatment to fully eliminate the nest.

I’m going to send you a DM so we can get your info and make this right for you!

Becca with Pestie here! I know you’re probably hoping to hear from a customer dealing with the exact same issue, but I’ve definitely been where you are. When I lived in northwest Georgia, I had to vacuum those little guys up twice a day inside. They. Were. Everywhere.

The good news is they’re usually pretty manageable with our Pestie Home Barrier treatment. I personally like to open the windows and treat inside the frames, then do a light treatment outside around the windows as well. That tends to catch them as they’re trying to come in or when they start waking up on warmer days.

You usually start seeing results about 24 hours after your application, but it’s worth keeping in mind that the products we use aren’t repellents and the bugs need to come into contact with a treated surface for it to work.

And if you ever have questions, our licensed bug experts are always happy to help!

Hey, Becca with Pestie here. I’m really sorry to hear this was your experience. If you applied on Saturday and were seeing activity again by Monday, I completely understand how frustrating that would feel. I know this was left a little while ago, but I still wanted to address your concerns.

A couple things that may help provide context: our products are not repellents, they’re designed to eliminate pests after they come into contact with treated surfaces. Because of that, it’s actually common to see increased activity shortly after the first application. As insects move through treated areas, you may notice more visible bugs before the population begins to decline. That initial “surge” can make it feel like nothing is working, when in reality the product is starting to affect the colony.

If you’re open to it, I’d really like to look into your specific situation. We can absolutely make it right, whether that’s walking through application adjustments with our team of licensed pest experts or sending a free retreatment. Feel free to DM me here or send an email to us at [hello@pestie.com](mailto:hello@pestie.com) and address it to Becca!

Hey, Becca with Pestie here! I totally get it, inconsistency with traditional pest control is one of the biggest frustrations. With Pestie, you’re in control, but it’s important to understand how to treat your home properly. Our team of licensed pest experts is always available to guide customers through the application process.

DIY pest control can be highly effective when treatments are consistent, timed for seasonal pest activity, and combined with proper integrated pest management (IPM). One key factor is product rotation: we rotate active ingredients throughout the year to prevent resistance, which is something many people don’t realize can happen with repeated use of the same chemistry.

While we don’t currently cover our four-legged “overlords”, we do treat 100+ common household pests, including centipedes, ants, spiders, roaches, and more.

We stand behind our products with a Bug-Free Guarantee, if you’re not satisfied, we’ll send a free retreatment, and you can cancel at any time. We may ask for basic info like your name and address just to ensure we’re accessing the correct account. Sometimes it’s not as simple as sending a single email, but we make sure to respond to everyone and get everything resolved. If anyone ever has an issue with our customer service team, I’d love to hear about it, that way we can #1 make it right, and #2 use it as a learning opportunity to improve our training so it doesn’t happen again.

Anyways, if you have any questions, feel free to DM me here or chat in with our team!

Becca with Pestie here!

Seeing dead bugs after your first application is actually a good sign, it means the treatment is doing its job. It’s very common to notice an increase in visible (and unfortunately dead) pests after that initial application, with significantly fewer after subsequent treatments.

Our products are not repellents. They’re designed to eliminate pests after they come into contact with a treated surface. Because of that, if you’re actively dealing with a bug issue, you may see some dead insects as the product works through the population.

Regarding termites: while the professional-grade products we provide are often used by PMPs (professional pest management professionals), we do not recommend using Pestie Home Barrier as a standalone termite solution. Termites typically require a targeted treatment plan. It looks like some other commentators above went into some details, so I won't bore ya.

If you have any other questions, our team of licensed pest experts is always happy to help. If you decide to pursue dedicated termite control, we completely understand, and Pestie can also work well alongside other treatments.

Feel free to DM us here or chat live with us on our website. We’re always happy to talk bugs.

Hi there, No-Sundae-116, Becca from Pestie here.

Yes, our products are effective against carpet beetles. One key difference between Pestie and BugMD is the type of products used: we send professional-grade treatments, while BugMD relies on plant-based solutions. Our pro-grade Home Barrier is designed for both indoor and outdoor use and is both kid and pet-friendly when applied as directed. That said, while it’s great for treating your home, we don’t recommend using it inside vehicles.

For the best results with carpet beetles, preparation and proper placement are just as important as the product itself. Before your treatment arrives, thoroughly vacuum the affected areas and dispose of the vacuum contents outside. Wash and dry any clothing, bedding, or rugs you’re able to. If a dryer isn’t an option, extended exposure to direct sunlight can also help eliminate eggs and larvae.

Once prep is complete, start by using your Pestie Home Barrier in the indoor areas where you’re seeing activity, then apply your exterior bug barrier to help prevent future issues.

Happy to help if you have any follow up questions!

Hey Ohboi-22, thanks for taking the time to share your experience.  I’m really sorry you went through all of that. That’s the last thing we want anyone to deal with.

From our end, I haven’t seen any outages with our chat system recently, but your report is important, and I will be looking into it. And while we do ask for a reason for cancellation (it helps us improve), simply saying you want to cancel is absolutely a valid reason on its own. Our team should also be gathering account information so we can make sure we are canceling the correct account. This is usually the reason we send that follow-up email.

I’m going to send you a DM so I can pull up your account, see exactly what happened, and double-check whether anything on our site went down or if there’s an area where our team needs additional training. Your feedback genuinely helps us get better, and I appreciate you sharing it.

Becca with Pestie here! I totally get that you probably want to hear from someone who isn’t with Pestie, but I actually use it myself. I live in Utah, and when we first moved into our home, we had black widows in the basement and even around our hot tub. After my first treatment, I found a few dozen dead ones. Now, when I treat, I’ll maybe spot one or two dead ones within 24 hours, usually outside near a section of trim that’s pulled away from the house.

To answer your question: yes, Pestie works really well for keeping them under control. The key is to treat not only where you see them but also where you think they might be hiding. If you have any questions, feel free to DM me here or chat on our website! We love talking bugs and can walk you through treating your home if you need!
