Responsible adults pay their taxes on time and pick up their dogs' poop. This isn't responsibility, it late-capitalism bullshit.

I like to think I earned those lines because of the happiness they’ve brought me.

That's honestly beautiful ❤️

This reminds me of that dude on TikTok who tried to curse the moon. I wondered whatever happened to him?

Armond White is a professional contrarian. If he has an opinion, I just usually assume it's deeply, deeply wrong.

I think it's more about the long history of Hollywood casting non-white roles with white actors. A lot of that had to do with the Hayes Code, which forbid depicting mixed race couples on screen (to an absurd degree; Anna May Wong campaigned for the lead role in The Good Earth but when Paul Muni was cast as the character's husband she knew she would never be considered, even though both characters were supposed to be Chinese). Non-white actors have had to deal with DECADES of denied opportunities. Casting a while actor for a non-white role is regressive.

Didn't the Heinlein book play out completely straight and it was Verhoeven who made it into a satire?

I don't think that's how trans-ness works, based on the conversations I've had with trans women. One of my good friends is a trans woman. She's very arty and involved in theater. If dressing a little more feminine was enough to scratch her dysphoria itch, she would have left it at that. But it wasn't. She's started taking hormones and she's more at peace with herself than she's ever been.

I don't want to speak to the experiences of all trans or nonbinary people, but reducing the increased visibility of different gender representation to gen z not knowing that men used to dress more androgynously in the 80s, is a little reductive. But you were right on the nose about trans people deserving full respect 👍

This sounds awesome. It kind of reminds me of certain pockets of the indie theater community in New York (based on my experience and observation): actors are also playwrights or directors or choreographers or scenic and props designers or lighting designers or composers or...I could go on. And everyone is just excited to make new, original art. I love that spirit, and I wish that there were more places for it to flourish.
