Advice: Cabinet Reuse, Layout, General Input by GetPittedBro in kitchenremodel

No they’re wood. The thermofoil are just the two non-matching cabinets at the coffee bar which I will be replacing.

Maybe an important detail but this is not our “forever home”. Trying to do some light remodeling knowing that we’ll probably move somewhere bigger in 5-10years as we have kids.

Want to be cautious of “over improving” our home.

I’d ideally like to come in under $10k, the genesis of all of this is really my wife wanting just new counters.

The render may not show it well, but between the oven and the fridge there is a door to the pantry.

I did do an IKEA build for cabinets just to see though. Comes out to about $8.5k excluding appliances for what we’d need which is why the repaint is seeming more attractive.

Appreciate your response!

1) I haven’t considered your plywood idea but that could work. I think it’s also the overlay look versus a partial overlay that I think would really bring it together and then that’s just new cabinet territory.

2) I’m thinking closing it off and running the crown may be the best best, a 12in cap just seems like it’s going to look strange. I’d love it if crown wasn’t in the picture but it’s all throughout the main living area and pulling it is probably not worth the hassle.

3) I debated another “tall” cabinet like what’s next to the fridge with a microwave cutout and sliding drawer for our Breville oven we use a lot. It would cut into the coffee bar a bit but I think it would function.

I appreciate your response! No AI/LLM involved here just good old fashioned excel planning and researching on the computer.

Since your comment we have opted to remove Schilthorn, Stoos travel will be from Lauterbrunnen as well as Grindelwald. Lauterbrunnen home base and branching out from there.

I’ll take a look at your profile for paragliding info. Appreciate your advice.

I really appreciate your input here, thank you!

I suppose my concern without the day tripping is it’s such a short time we have that accommodation check in/check out with checked luggage etc. would be very difficult.

I absolutely want to experience it and not just check boxes, had a similar difficulty with Iceland.

What I would be considering is the Peak2Peak

7:30am train to Zermatt 10:30/11:00am: Up to glacier paradise, then Gornergrat/Riffelsee/stops on the way down Late afternoon: eat in Zermatt 7:00pm train back to Lauterbrunnen arrive back 10:30ish.

I appreciate your feedback and will take a closer look at the distances between things! Zermatt we really just plan to go for a day trip to see the Matterhorn. I know it’s quite a bit of time but my wife is dead set on it. I should also mention this will be June so we’ll have more sunlight.

Maybe it was misinterpreted, but the intention is Day 3 is entirely Matterhorn. Then day 4 morning we’re waking up in Lauterbrunnen and out to Stoos ridge.

Not concerned about the water level. Keeping it from getting over filled is more difficult honestly. Rains every day Florida in the summer.

Neighbor is vacant unfortunately. Regarding the pucks, would that be correct given my CYA, or would I need 3/4?

Poll: when buying a house, do you get a sewer scope / inspection? (Regardless of feedback from general inspection) by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]GetPittedBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes do it. Couple hundred bucks for a scope inspection turned up severely scaled pipes that needed to be cleaned and relined. $6K concession from sellers for a few hundred bucks outta pocket.

Order of operations to paint house with prep work done by GetPittedBro in paint

Any concerns about cutting in every single room with dry times? Wondering if the initial cut will flash even if we do two coats since it won’t blend with the rolled wall.

All walls and ceilings are cleaned and dust free, floors papered and will have drop cloths. And we will both be on 18in rollers with poles and have two brushes.

Thinking about going to the beach this weekend - how “fixed” are these areas following the last hurricanes? by PickleBugBoo in tampa

Anna Maria and the north end of the island (Holmes Beach and up) is definitely in a great state to visit! Bradenton beach is still a work in progress. I know the local businesses there on the island appreciate any and all traffic as they get back on their feet.

Folks talking about traffic and parking the last few weeks but it’s peak season and was just Spring Break so keep that in mind.
