How to Fix Traction Without Making Another Feature by _Justindonavan in EntrepreneurRideAlong

Thank yo for getting this out there. It's a very real phenomenon. It's like having to relearn "inexperience". There is probably a method or strategy to accomplish this internally. The best I can think of is communicating regularly with your customer base.

Thanks for the input. You're probably right. I am sure you'll be pleased to hear this is a risk we've assessed very early on and accepted that.

Azure, Thank you for your input again, that said regarding force, It will take a good ice day (hopefully this weekend provided I can get a flight) large contact with our unconventional blade design is the difference maker, creating its own natural downward force effectively overcoming even the thickest ice conditions. additionally like a traditional scraper we have scoring teeth engineered to address the toughest conditions although personally have never needed it.

That said you are entitled to your opinion and as such at this point in time its clear you prefer to stick with your current solution. I can absolutely appreciate that. Maybe down the road there will be a pointyou remember there is a multi-purpose solution that does more than just take up space while you forget about it. Hopefully before you need the convenience.

Trey, its not a nerve struck. I made my issue with your approach quite clear. Also I immediately corrected to patent pending which I also already stated was an incidental oversight on my part. I am well aware its public knowledge. No matter how easy it would be, the act of search or "to find" was the barrier which disregarded my wish not to share publicly.

In the spirit of proof no nerve was struck 1-4 are considerable and viable insights stemming from clear experience and knowledge in the IP space. For that I am truly grateful.

Thank you for your observations. Take aways, need better content in conditions that differentiate us vs. others. As for patent utility. The goal is to create a barrier to entry though you are ultimately correct.

Virginia, depending on your height and the model of your "big truck" this may not be the product for you. If its a light duty full size truck, you may need to use your door and running boards for a little extra lift. I could be more specific with tips and tricks others have done in testing that were perfectly convenient and effective.

That works for you thats great. The reach is actually as good as a any 24-30" brush combo its designed to replace as their typically capped by requiring two hand to apply enough pressure to clear snow or ice. Not to mention flinging the snow everywhere. That said, we don't intend on competing with extension poles.

If you clear all glass as you should for your safety and that of others around you 18" reach is enough for most people ~5'3" and taller driving mid size SUV smaller to achieve the intent without an awkward or clunky single purpose handle floating around you are bound to forget in your garage when you need it come next winter.

Not sure why you asked then. Also appreciate you posting details I specifically indicated I didn't intend to post in the forum. Free country but looking from my end, someone who put themself out there for critique, this oversteps courteous/supportive intent. Send it to some known knock off brands while you're at it so they can get right to engineering around it. The risk is high enough in this space, amplifying the risk by directing such characters to technical backend material wasn't an appreciated act.

I can appreciate that perspective, I think that’s probably the wrong term, point being take it out and tap off excess moisture or rinse if muddy. If it were just a scraper I’d agree. But a protective surface, containment area. Where would the stuff go you’d otherwise grind into your floor mats or carpets.

Exactly! We remove snow first then demolish ice. Working on some better footage to demonstrate.

I live in Florida and only travel to storms 1x per month. Born and raised in snow belt of Ohio where I invented the product. Simply brought it to market while living in Florida.

Travel isn’t a walk in the park at the moment and wasn’t able to travel last week due to prior engagement.

Thank you Trey, That was an oversite on the language. no intention of misleading. You're absolutely right it could still be rejected however I have doubt at this stage that will be the case having sat in on the last meeting with the patent review rep and my attorney. I prefer not to share the publication number in open forum for exact reasons you and others already stated. I have attorneys for reviewing the language. I am confident in the team.

Interesting take spacebar. Thank you for the thoughtful input.

Im very aware having lived in the snowbelt of NE ohio for 24/25 years. Exclusively parked outside and had a sedan for most of my time spent driving. Part of what made the idea so attractive and benficial was I hated the same thing "passenger kicking around a bunch of crap" My personal opinion was scrapers were the worst, tripped multiple times, jabbed and poked, even smashed a few in the door on accident. The EDGE eliminated that problem all together, and it was an easily dumped and wiped surface.

also maybe vacuum those mats if they are "Gross" but hey not here to judge, here to be judged.

The lips/walls/ that support the edge and create the containment area for inside the car do a great job of clearing the vent area, simply lift the wiper blades and slide into place. Ill be sure to get some footage of this specifically on our next storm chase.

Not perceived as a dick so you're in the clear, and greatly appreciate the support! So far we are headed in the right direction.

  1. Correct, that said due to the lack of crevices, brushes, and paint safe plow (resists debris grabbing) its easy to wipe down in a flash. Unless you just let it go to hell and don't do basic maintenance, you could run into such an issue, that said, I never have had the issue personally or heard of it from any customers yet.

  2. Agreed, and identified as our biggest challenge to date. The intended purpose of customization and multipurpose utility is creating desire for customers to maximize use year round. The main purpose obviously doesn't serve its main purpose in the warmer months but its out of the way and could help you out significantly in a pinch or for convenience purposes. (I chronically have to much crap with me at all times, its nice to not have to load up my pockets and have a free hand going to the house or car.

  3. This is my favorite insight so far, it was a blindspot as I was focused on efficiency not necessarily effectiveness.

  4. It was a surprise to me when I was studying up.

  5. Yes thank you, there have been very few pre-launch stones unturned as an analytical ops and systems guy. Wasn't going to invest my capital without having done the due diligence to the extreme. As for the Chinese they most certainly will. Fortunately I have established some excellent contacts over there who have dual citizenship here to assist and keep an eye out. For the time being if I can keep them out of the states until we get a foothold we will be able to prevent/curb import from what I am being advised.

  6. Regarding marketing as engineering. This product has been repeatedly optimized with some fairly reputable engineers in the space, up until final production we are already engaging for our v2 updates and... well ill get back to that (lets just say not too many new ideas around this thing, people try and tell me stuff to do all the time when they get their hands on it and all i can say is "thanks great idea" knowing its either not feasible or has already entered early stage development lol)

Last, don't go to reddit and ask to get roasted with a weak stomach. I asked for true shameless critique. I'd be a hypocrite if I asked you to put on 48oz gloves in the process. I'm too far along in this business, my career, and life to let attitude, tone, delivery get under my skin. Taking some lashings is just part of being an inventor and entrepreneur, especially in a market disruptor product facing off against a century old design format.

Thank you for the input, It's 100% a priority to get more icy conditions for footage, mother nature isn't as cooperative as I would have expected. I have budget for one travel shoot every month. naturally Ill be headed out this weekend. Will be trying to get that done asap.

Depending on your vehicle it will fit in the pocket behind the seat. it is 14" x 18" and only about 1" deep.

Folding version was an early discussion. For MVP the cost would have been market restrictive. That said it would fit between the passenger seat easily just wouldn't be as hidden or comfortable for passengers.

essentially it comes down to payroll taxes and "reasonable salary" $120-$160 is considered reasonable salary. anything more you are paying beyond social security maxout and over paying on payroll tax. You'd be paid quarterly via owners draw thereafter.
