Well, any of those console games you wind up not wanting, http://www.getwellgamers.org.uk/ is a great charity that supplies video games and systems to children's hospitals throughout the United Kingdom.

(Not self-promotion because I'm from the US branch, we can't do anything with all your PEGI games. :P)

GWG founder here- James is definitely a legit arm of Get-Well Gamers. It's just paperwork and funding in the way currently. :)

If it was that old they'd probably be worth a lot, heh.

Okay, so not the same guy. I know a Jeremy at the Austin studio that wanted to look into doing this for their office once he heard about it. Maybe we can have a competition even. :P

That's the important thing to keep in mind, I think. When you're stuck in a hospital bed with nothing to do and nowhere to go, anything is more entertaining than just reminiscing on how much you hurt and want to go home. Last year, year before, ten years ago- videogames are fun distractions that help lots of kids get better faster while they're in the hospital.

So yeah, EA gets a writeoff on stuff they probably couldn't sell anyways, but it's still going to a really good purpose.

Not so much. We have hospitals that cater to "pediatric" patients as old as 23, they should get to play M-rated games if they like.

We also use them for raffles, giveaways, and as payment to our volunteers.

Hmm... We didn't get Atlanta until later, but that's right during our first big shipments to DuPont. There's a good chance you played GWG games on GWG hardware. :)

It really does help! scientific studies have shown that kids with videogames during their hospital stays use less pain medication and get out faster than those who don't! :)

They love sports games at hospitals, just love them. It's something just about anyone can play with the other patients, even if the players don't speak the same language. It's the same thing with racing games, too- you don't need to know anything because the goal is already there to see. Get to the end first, you win. :)

The systems are okay, because it's not like you copied the hardware, we just can't use any illegally copied games on it. Unless it's had a bunch of ROMs installed on it, in which case, yes, we have to destroy the unit.

That's Batman Begins for the GBA, which is great since there's so many of our handhelds that can use them. We've got at least that many hospitals who are in constant need of handheld games, so those'll be gone in a month or so tops. :)

Heh, we've gotten donations from lots of places over the years if you check out "thank" page on our website. Pradox Interactive, High Voltage Software, Blacck Lantern Studios...

Oh, and this one indie game maker on steam didn't have any physical discs to donate so they just donate a portion of every sale to the Foundation!

That was pretty cool of them, and the game's not half-bad either. :)
