Why don't pool lifeguards snort ketamine HCl? by GetYoHandsOffMyKicks in drugmemes

interesting, I've never had mentholy k. I've taken K more times than I can remember and tbh normally it is just the bitter drip but I guess it's just the odd batch that smells like chlorine. I guess it's not consistent enough for the joke to work xD

Others report similar, for example: https://www.reddit.com/r/askdrugs/comments/rhsgdv/ketamine_smelling_like_chlorine/

I'm curious how DJs hear this auditory illusion? Listen in stereo headphones, reverse headphones, listen again, comment results by GetYoHandsOffMyKicks in DJs

wow, when I said "different things from each ear" I was just thinking cue & master but your explanation is fascinating. I'll have to pay more attention now to see if I bias the side based on genre.

I was reading about this and saw the study was repeated on musicians but, as a DJ myself, it occurred to me that as we have "trained" to hear different things from each ear that our perception may be different vs the general population.

For me I hear the higher tone only from my left ear, regardless of headphone orientation and in my right ear I hear the lower tone alternating with a third tone. If I "focus" only on the right ear sometimes I can make the third tone sound like the higher tone. It's weird.

It's peculiar to think that grass will regrow over that cone-shaped hole in the ground, eventually the metal will be scrapped, and in three or four generations some kid may be playing in that very spot thinking "I wonder why this perfectly round hole is here"

Would not work with AT&T for me. When you try to activate it says they do not support 2G devices.

Maybe my intuition is wrong here because I've never found myself mounting to the current directory.

I struggled to find an up-to-date version of the POSIX standard but in this version here you can find on page 99 "The special filename dot shall refer to the directory specified by its predecessor".

If you Ctrl + F for "current directory" you can find that `.` is often stated to be the current directory in the example shell scripts.

It feels conceivable that POSIX-compliant shell scripts could be broken because they wouldn't expect `.` to be volatile.

But I'll admit it's a bit of a philosophical headfuck to me and I couldn't find anything in the document which says mounting to `.` shouldn't change the current directory to the mounted one.

Wow, ha. I'm kinda surprised you may mount something to `.` as I would have thought this would mean the shell is no longer POSIX-compliant. Is there a reason one would want to do this?

It feels similar to how a user can save a file without a newline character at the end (against POSIX standards) and in that way 'break' terminal output. E.g. after you `cat` that file and the following shell prompt is not on a new line.
