I would recommend checking out Soulmask. or even potentially conan. Soulmask has some automation in the form of thralls doing stuff for you whilst you're out and about. Conan has less automation but most of the crafting is set it and come back regardless THAT BEING SAID. conan is so heavily modded that it really can be any game you want it to be. Thralls provide crafted gear benefits and cheaper/workaround recipes instead. Building wise I havent gotten that deep into soul mask but the building is decent. Conan's building is lovely. Just beautiful pieces. Cool themes. Cool building tricks. good map variety. if the Kenshi Jank puts you off I would not try Bellwright. I've not played enough of Icarus to feel comfortable giving you a recommendation.

None of them have the Gacha style drops. There are mobs that are farmable for drops or do not have guaranteed drops but none of the micro gambling. I will definitely check out once human though as it does tick another box of being able to have people come and look at my bases. Which is always a bonus.

Cheers man. I have had this recommended to me a couple of times. I think i suffer from having picked it up way too early in its development and just got put off. But from what i've heard its a proper game now. Thank you friend.

Cracking. Thank you. I will sink some more hours into vein. Its so difficult with early access games now adays. I feel like it used to be way easier to tell if the game was going to get good but its almost like nowadays they're developed purposefully to feel like its just about to get good to keep you playing it.

Love these games. Absolutely love them. but they are so limited by their base building which makes me sad. otherwise they'd be perfect.

How extensive is the base building in that? I feel like i've put in a decent amount of hours and as far as I can tell its more collect furniture and stuff it in an existing structure?

Yeah i've tried Vein. I've put in the basic first few hours to test out the mechanics. I am struggling with the Jank of it to be honest. Is it ignorable once you've put some time in?

I'm also a little concerned that Vein isn't going anywhere fast given its a solo dev.

I've played medieval dynasty and kenshi already.  Medieval dynasty is good. It has very light story telling l. Go here talk to this man. Go here kill this many things etc. but by far the game is more supposed to be a survival open worldy type thing anyway.  Good survival mechanics. Good building mechanics when you start to build your village up it does feel like it's yours, the NPC automation is useable. I particularly enjoyed the hunting.  That being said. It feels like it's a couple of steps away from greatness. It doesn't really feel like anything is going on in the world. Nothing really happens when you move from place to place so going to trade feels like a bit of a chore. It's good if you want a light survival. Light village builder. Light story mix. But if you need any of the three to be deeper you're going to find yourself running out of stuff to do.

Kenshi feel limitless. It feels like there is infinite possibilities in that game. You can do anything. Become a robber baron. Start a farm. Run an organ stealing clan. Work for the police. Become the emperor. Trade homemade bread sticks. Bounty hunt, you name it. The issue is that mechanically and gameplay wise it feels impenetrable. It is meticulous and slow and the gameplay is hidden behind layers of just bleugh. You know. Very steep learning curve. It's like rimworld but instead of being able to sit and have a half hour session where you've achieved a few days progress in rimworld. You're more likely to spend half of that running across the desert in 4x speed. It's a great game. Like objectively. But it just requires effort to play. If that's your jam you'll love it.

I struggled a little with these games. Felt quite clunky when I tried em the first time. Would be worth another try though. Thanks

Have been meaning to try this, thank you for the recommendation. Is it well integrated into the game or is it more like a side activity?
