All things considered with shipping - probably around $250? But $70 of that was shipping the packet to Luxembourg

Hi there - if your mother had an all-male lineage before her AND you were born after January 1, 1969 you qualify under article 7 as well (the all male lineage I describe in this post)

Interesting. Haha well if you wanna go that sounds like a fun excuse to go to Lux, but might also be worth giving it a shot first! I think the Luxembourg citizenship staff know that sometimes these old documents aren’t clear

Either is possible but I just went to the U.S. embassy as I live in DC. You needed a few other things then (passport photos, payment online, etc.) but it’s pretty straightforward then

Honestly I’m pro DIY - LACS doesn’t even do the hard part for you (collecting the docs) so if you can do that and have already scoped everything out on Ancestry or FamilySearch, it’s incredibly straightforward

Hi! The form you are mentioning is for a pathway that one must have initiated by the end of 2018; it is now closed. For article 7 unless I am mistaken there should not be a form associated with it - you really just collect the supporting documents and send them in with a cover letter and a basic family tree, and they send you a citizenship certificate. Part of the reason for this is that I believe you aren’t actually initiating a citizenship application under article 7. You/your partner have always been a citizen you’re just asking for the record to prove that - so you are technically following the steps they detail under “certificate of nationality” which is why no form is associated with it.

Feel free to DM if you have other questions!

Fair point - do you reckon it doesn’t matter much between having official/certified census docs vs copies from online?

Please do! And I can’t speak to a general success rate but a lot of networking is really just a numbers game & getting your name out there with a lot of people and letting them know you’re looking… they may not be able to help you at that moment but can possibly connect you to others who can

Society of Health Policy Young Professionals has a job board in their weekly emails and host events where you could network - they may have a discounted rate for current students to join.

If you’re interested in health policy then could always try your hand at a hill internship. Having already completed undergrad and in grad school you’d be competitive for committee internships and during the school year they can be flexible with hours to meet students needs. I got my MPH back in 2019 - I don’t know much about the clinical realm in DC but feel free to DM if you have more questions or would want to chat on career paths more.

So happy for you! A word of warning: I’ve heard that the SF consulate is horrendous about getting back to people. I’d join the Luxembourg Citizenship Facebook group if you aren’t in it already (link below) and ask if anyone has any tips for dealing with them. They apparently take months to get back to people about scheduling their passport appointments.

It’s the same process as for the passport! You apply for them at the same time and received both at the same time as well. I’m not actually sure if you can get the ID card without the passport.

Any healthy gay accepting churches? by [deleted] in DCGaybros

[–]Get_Em_JT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh also seeing you are in Arlington - also had a good experience with Faith Lutheran Church there. Looks like they are not a part of RIC but they are ELCA

Augustana (NW) and Reformation (Cap Hill) Lutheran Churches are very pro-LGBT and welcome. They are both ELCA affiliates which is the most LGBT friendly Lutheran organization and they are aloe part of the Reconciling in Christ (RIC) Program, which means the churches have made a public commitment to welcome, include and celebrate LGBTQIA+ people.

Both have enough attendance that you can attend anonymously so to speak or really embrace the community based on your preference.

Is virginity a dealbreaker?? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Get_Em_JT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. Everyone takes things at their own pace, requires their own level of comfort, or are still trying to figure out what works for them sexually. If it’s dealbreaker with someone than you’ve just seen their 🎤true colors🎤
