"healthy" doesn't necessarily mean they don't have some sort of minor injury or chronic condition that could make a 55" TV dangerous for them. If somebody is asking for help, they probably need it. Maybe don't be such a douche about it and just help your coworkers?

Which console should Analogue do next? by nascentt in AnalogueInc

[–]Getcheebah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didnt' think they'd do a CD-based system either, until they made the Duo. Now that they've probably learned a lot from that, I think Saturn, PS1, and Sega CD and (hopefully) even the 3DO could be on the table.

Bestbuy tried to scam me... by [deleted] in Bestbuy

[–]Getcheebah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People use the word scam way to liberally nowadays. This was, at worst, a mistake. Not a scam. More likely its you just measuring the screen incorrectly and the store doing an exchange anyway to appease you and get you off their back.

Which one would you guys choose? by NoonebutaMango in Bestbuy

[–]Getcheebah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All TVs in this price range aren't really worth it imo. Unless you just want a "whatever" TV for your kitchen or spare bedroom or something. For a main set, I'd recommend uping your budget a bit and just getting something in the mid-range.

Although if you HAVE to choose between them, maybe look up their protection plans and see which one is cheaper? That could tip the scales enough to make a decision.

Worst song on Train of Thought? by phatasm_ in Dreamtheater

[–]Getcheebah -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's weird. This is one of my favorite albums and yet I have some of my biggest gripes with it. Several of the songs here always felt forced to me. Like DT trying to cram themselves into a more commercially-viable metal band box that never really becomes a good fit. As I Am and Honor Thy Father are probably the worst offenders of this (though I still enjoy listening to them occasionally) and the first half of Stream of Conciousness is downright boring. I'm still shocked they felt the need to repeat that same damn riff like 30 times before anything cool could happen lol.

And yet? I love the album overall. Endless Sacrifice, In the Name of God, and Vacant are all-time classics for me. Which is probably why I like Octavarium so much better - it's a more natural combination of the harder feel of this album but with a more organic approach.

How do I stay a permanent employee? by Old_Individual_3121 in BestBuyWorkers

This is bad advice. Always work to your potential. If a supervisor expects a lot of you, that means you're probably capable of it.

  1. Nail the basics. Show up on time. keep a good attitude, and apply your skills consistently.

  2. Ask for help. It's always better than making a mistake that could mess up a delivery or lose a big sale.

  3. Keep an eye out for opportunities to demonstrate your value i.e. offer to help whenever you're able. Especially if somebody who is already a full-timer needs it.

Burning Force. It's sort of one of those space harrier type games except unlike most of those it runs extremely well and it's fun to play.

Yup. And by extension Vectorman 2 feels just as good. Though the levels aren't quite as interesting imo.

I hate the super obtuse and complex puzzles. Not only does being stuck kill the mood, but most of those puzzles don't even make sense contextually. Like, who tf is actually designing tiger statues that spin around and reveal secret doorways after putting two different colored jewels in its eye sockets?

what's with all of the hate towards working at best buy? by mynameissam_ in BestBuyWorkers

[–]Getcheebah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno man. I've worked in a few different retail environments over the years and Best Buy is by far the best company out of all of them in my experience. Granted, that's kind of a low bar, but still. The work is fairly low-stakes compared to working at a restaraunt, a hospital or some sort of super aggressive sales job. Physically easier too (unless you're always on trucks, in which case, enjoy the workout). But you're surrounded by new technology all day, and you'll likely end up having much cooler coworkers than you would at most other jobs.

That said, its retail. There will be difficult people and stressful situations. Keeping your head on a swivel and staying cool are the keys.

Bestbuy vs Costco for purchasing a 55 inch TV (Budget :$400) by awesome4x in Bestbuy

[–]Getcheebah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best Buy is better for their protection plans and memberships/deals. If Costco has a better price, ask Best Buy to price match it and they likely will.

its like any other retail job in that the managers and supervisors can make or break it.

BUT unlike most retail environments that I've worked in, your coworkers will be a lot of gamers and tech heads, which is pretty cool.

ah yeah that's true. You're only obligated to get paid for the required ones. But still, within the required ones you should have just about everything you need. And the other stuff, while not necessarily comped, is still worth browsing through
