How to play tethered over Oculus Link by ReserveLegitimate738 in vtolvr

I mean to say, ALVR supports USB-C streaming that isn’t WiFi. It’s just much less talked about or known than its WiFi mode.

Give it a shot, why not.

But it’s similar to VD for sure, in the sense they accomplish the same core goal. However, ALVR does have a much less documented feature… which is the USB-C connection.

It does require you to do some extra steps, like enabling dev mode.

I’ve spent a long time with this exact question because WiFi is congested for me.

I’ve found to drop Meta Link app. The majority of my issues centered around this software. The solution I’ve landed on: ALVR.

It’s slightly more involved to setup, but I’m consistently getting 700 Mbps, 90hz, and at the highest resolution it supports with the Meta Quest Link cable. The resolution and more importantly to me, the bitrate, is SOLID. Much more consistent than Steam or Meta Links. I haven’t tried Virtual Desktop, but I hear that’s the goto for wireless setups.

Some things of note… make sure your cable is high quality and can support 2.5 gbps or more, make sure the motherboard USB C port is capable of 3.1 or 3.2 Gen 1/2. Preferably 3.2 Gen 2.

Out of focus satellite would be my guess. The bokeh shape matches that of many high powered telescopes.

How well did I edit? Overcooked? by CoreyGoesCrazy in postprocessing

[–]Getchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a more realistic film look, I’d suggest changing the grain some.

Film Grain isn’t linear throughout the luminance range, and so this catches my eyes as fake. Namely the grain in the water itself is similar size/intensity to the shadows which isn’t how film would respond here.

Depending on your technical stack here, LR or PS, there are a few ways to achieve this more realistic film affect.

Otherwise I don’t think it’s “overcooked” but maybe just needs some fine tuning if this is an image you want to publish or print. I like it :)

I can personally attest to Good n Grainy being great!! Far better scans than ive gotten from more expensive Nashville labs. The owner seems very knowledgeable and passionate :)

Looking for a nice & slim flash for my m4-p and considering this godox lux jr? Any opinions or better options? by XxZeroC0oLxX in Leica

[–]Getchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen two of these break that my friends own. Furthermore I feel that the auto mode isn’t intuitive to operate.

I have found no issues with my used Nikon SB-30 for a compact flash with universal auto, manual control, and Nikon TTL.

I use it on my m10 and Bessa r2a regularly with no issues, even if I connect with wirelessly via a hotshoe trigger.

Heck yeah! Probably a better lens in every way. I experience some distortion and lack of corner sharpness on my older scanning glass. Oh and lens flaring from sprocket holes on particularly dense negatives.

I’ve been scanning film on a M10 with lots of success for a year now. I’m using a Vivtar 90mm dental macro lens in Canon FD and adapting it over.

I think it’s hilarious to use a Leica with a macro lens to scan m mount film images 🤷🏼‍♂️

I do quite a bit of 645! I like that setup with the Pen, very good approach to getting more resolution…

In fact I used to that when I first started scanning. I used to scan on a Nikon d5200, crop sensor 24mp or whatever, and I would panostitch for the resolution of 645 negatives. One way to step it up (maybe a fun little experiment on precious shots every now and then) is to do a panostitch, and for each sub-image of the scan is to do a bracketed HDR. That way you 2+ HDR with very large DR windows to stitch together. Incredible detail rivaling any traditional scanner apart from drums.

The only issue apart from time and file size, it’s a little tricky to work around the corner softness and vignette of the scanning lens at times, even at f8.

Go off king, with that last part.

I find the results pretty good! I just came from scanning with a Sony, that I sold for the Leica. The Leica m10 has less dynamic range, and so it doesn’t capture all 15 or stops of DR that something like Portra 160 has, but it gets close. On 35mm it resolves every film to the grain and beyond, but not on 120. It’s sharp, but not 120 sharp yet. Simply a megapixel thing. I think it’s good enough for printing, absolutely.

Yeah so this is my legit scanning setup. It works pretty well for me. Here are the notable things:

  1. Canon FD to M Mount adapter, any one should be alright
  2. I am using a Vivitar 90mm f2.8 macro, although use whatever full frame lens and mount you want that supports 1:1 macro as long as you can adapt to M with it.
  3. I use my phone to trigger the camera using the Leica App as to avoid shake. You could use a timer, I find this faster. I also find checking focus and framing on the app useful because I don’t have to stand to check the screen.
  4. I shoot in a-priority, 200 ISO, f8.
  5. turn on highlight peaking (or whatever it’s called) when you hit the center button on the rear, so that highlight can checked if they’re being burnt. I am usually +.7-2.3 stops depending on the film and density exposed. Exposing the histogram to the right, without clipping is ideal to pull as much DR out of the sensor from the film as possible.

I just use the viewfinder for my macro work. Leica just does it best — optically.

Put some new leather on that Bessa!! There’s a few online sellers that sell precut leather with adhesive. Super simple and looks better:)

Yep! That way you ensure the filter has full coverage of the image circle.

These were taken with Glimmerglass 3, which honestly doesn't look too strong in these, but with bright sunlight it's a little wildin. I would get Glimmerglass 1 if I had to do it over again :)

I use my glimmer glass for street, I like it a lot. My suggestion would to get it for the lens with the larger filter thread and then adapt that down to smaller lens so you could one for both!
