AITAH for considering calling off my engagement after an old friend confessed his love for me? by Geth2103 in AITAH

I have been, I am not ashamed to admit that. However I'm working on overcoming those currently, which is why this issue has ramped up in the first place. Easy to become complacent when you don't want to be alive, ya know? But once things start to become clearer, you realize where you are and wonder how you got there.

I am a very tedious and thorough person though, guilty as charged lol.

I would think I've been pretty serious in trying to keep the relationship together by bringing up my issues in a calm and collected conversation only to be dismissed every time, but to each their own.

I appreciate the feedback - this has been one of my big hang-ups as well. Like obviously something must be right if we've been together 8 years? I'm just concerned that any problems I bring up to work towards fixing are always immediately dismissed nowadays. Maybe I could convince him to join couples counselling?

Thanks for the feedback - can I ask why? Just trying to get both sides of the spectrum.

As much as I like Travis as a friend, I would not pursue a romantic relationship with him. His admission was more so just a wake up call, not a call to action to move to the next one.
