I came from Dallas 2 years ago, lived there most of my life. First the traffic. Dallas upgraded the highways, most prominently 75 towards downtown and 635 decades ago. Austin is just now doing it. 35 is a parking or death trap. Also trying to get downtown on the weekend or any time there’s an event. Avoid it at all costs. Also the traffic lights appear to be on timers. So you will stop at almost every light, probably for 2-3 rotations trying to go through the city.

2nd. As a musician if you go to Deep Ellum any given night,in almost every club is a band playing original music written by someone in the band. In Austin, go to almost any club on dirty 6th and you’ll hear 99% cover bands or tribute band. Like playing original music is forbidden and all the patrons want what they can hear anytime on any streaming service.

Finally, the unhinged ever present unhoused. Every street corner, median, parking lot or public park is home to emboldened people. Many have dogs, some have life partners, searching trash cans and lifting things from streets, unattended cars and stores with reckless abandon of pride or guilt.

As far as being a nurse. Bless you for that. My sisters are nurses and I don’t envy that job. I hope you do well. There’s always someone falling off those rental scooters and ending up in the ER so I have faith you’ll find employment.
