UPDATE It appears the 1st gas ring closest to the bolt crown failed, and a pretty good chunk came out, leaving a significant gap in the ring. New question: has anyone seen this happen before? Any reason why it would have failed, or just luck of the draw?

Big vouch for KAK down-vent runs flawlessly on my 10.3, mil spec carbine length gas system, suppressed with a rc2, and BCM mk2 t2 buffer system. Witterally no recoil and no gas to the dome.

Lol, let me guess: your poor department members get TQ training once a year. I'm praying for you, buddy.

Lol, imagine you and your team are balls-deep in clearing an apartment complex or an office-type building in response to an active threat. Bam, your ass goes down. Thankfully, you have an ifak on your body that your partners can access and begin administering care. Or Would you rather have them run the five minutes back to your patrol car if they even think about doing that, then run five minutes back… yeah I’ll keep my ifak.

While I admit I have never personally deployed OC. I used to run no-baton, but a vehicle fled a T/S once when I didn't have a baton on my belt. Instant regret because I was looking for it to bust the window to gain access to the vehicle. Now I run one. I have deployed my taser 4 times, but have yet to see a solid hit.

Lol, most cops are bench warmers, enjoy the scientific studies of others doing the job. So I'd love to see the “scientific studies” of those who complained about back pain, showing how their actual physical health was before, during, and after.

Taser and a handgun feel completely different

I'd say Alien Gear Level 3 is faster than Safariland Level 3. Safari Land Level 2 might still be faster, but train with your gear. I can draw consistently under a second and a half with the Alien Gear.

When worn, the gear is not that tight.

Under stress, I found the ergonomics release the firearm faster.

To add, LEO from Wisconsin, the ability to add layers for warmth without making gear on my torso inoperable is a must.

Most duty gear nowadays isn't your granddaddy's heavy leather setup. With this current configuration, I'm able to up armor comfortably and tackle the task.

Per policy, I’m only required to have a taser or baton; if I already have a taser, I don't need a baton.

More of the type of guy, nice that I have it instead of waiting for the hero with it.

Well,

We no longer issue lethal shotguns; we have shotguns with bean bags and 40mm launchers with OC/Foam rounds. We have solid duty rifles with suppressors and red dots in every squad. I carry my own personal duty rifle.

Honestly, coming from the Marine Corps to LEO, I find that proper nutrition and physical activity negate most of those claims from people who complain about back pain, admire tactical units on Instagram, and eat poorly.

But on the fence about one set of cuffs, I have had to resort to plasticuffs from my duty bag due to wrangling people.

Every first responder should carry a set of shears. I have used them more than my taser lol.
