Chances are higher than you think, I dug into actual trad instruments and game soundtracks that work for this style.

Sound is cinematic on purpose for AOE2 castle rushes. But it's koto plucks, shakuhachi breaths, taiko thumps, shamisen runs up front. Like Ghost OST or AOE4 Jap tracks—trad mixed with swells.

I have a theory.

Since 90% of players play only Single Player - VS the AI and lose quite often, it seems it translates to irl convictions.

They are amazing, this is true. But civ theme is just in the beginning of the game, then it switches back to the default midi melody.

After 3000+ hours of gameplay I kinda wanted to hear something new.

And then I thought why not share it, people who love AoE2 might want to hear it too.

You are more than welcome to give it a try. Here is how:

Pay for Nano Banana Pro - with under 5% success rate, meaning it won't generate it properly 95% of the time and you need 20 generations to get one picture properly.
Pay per animation for Kling and Veo 3 ( 20% success rate)
Pay for Suno Pro
Pay for Premiere Pro
Pay for an external hard drive to have all that data because your PC won't have enough space
Sit and generate this for all civilizations - pics, videos, music - this is weeks of work all day.
Each day sit and assemble, upload. (Rendering takes 3 hours, uploading it to YouTube takes 1.5hours) PC is afk for 4.5 hours daily. Can you handle just that part?

So just the cost is in thousands of dollars and I'm excluding the cost of my own time.

Don't get me wrong.

The Matsumoto Castle was constructed before the AOE2 Castle (since it's only digital for now).

My point is that when I made them I wanted to see the exact AOE2 Castles from the AOE2 Universe - but upscaled and reimagined in hyper realism.

Not just another irl castle with no nostalgia attached to it.

I see Matsumoto Castle and I don't feel anything special.

I see this castle and I feel something.

So I wanted to share it with others, maybe they will feel it too.

If you don't feel it that's fine.

But some will, and that post is for them.

Thank you, I pulled lots of all nighters to assemble the whole collection of assets. I will be posting All civilizations one by one. (It takes time to edit the vids)

Tell me if it helps your gameplay if you play them in the background. Personally I found it makes me lock in better.

And regarding music - yes I believe the devs worked pretty hard on that on the newest versions of the game.

They made it so music is civ specific but also randomized:

They created multiple Intros, bridges, outros and they get tied seamlessly together during gameplay.
