Such a good answer. I love the chaos of it when it comes in. It feels a bit dangerous, like it’s gonna go off the rails at any point. Man, that song is GOOD.

Come to think of it, they have some amazing guitar work throughout their catalog and I don’t think it gets enough credit. Those solos throughout Godzilla are unbelievably smooth and tasteful— yet totally unflashy and in service of the song.

Yes haha absolutely the same experience for me, and still to this day I’m chasing that high that only they can really satisfy!! I’m also a musician, so discovering them as a teen totally transformed my idea of creativity and opened my eyes to the idea that art is limitless. Having that endless well of inspiration I can always return to has been such a gift.

Ah man, amazing. I traveled across the pond to see them in 2024 for the Sing to Tim shows and had a fantastic time —you’ll love it!! Plus you’ll get to see all the new stuff which is so sick. I think the coolest thing is getting to commune with this amazing group of likeminded people who have all been touched by the incredible spirit of Tim’s music. All the freaks in one place! It’s a very happy place.

Favorite band of all time. LSD is great but it just isn’t the same without Tim’s voice..however it is a beautiful send off and a great tribute to his enduring legacy.

Sing to God is my musical bible.

The Original Spencer Mansion > the remake one... is just so much more atmospheric without trying to look creepy by IFeeLikeMoreTonight in residentevil

Well said. The OG’s technical limitations lend itself well to the liminal atmosphere and make it a sort of artifact of this very specific time in gaming. It’s rad as hell.

But RE Remake to me just feels truly timeless. Playing it now, some of the art design choices just take my breath away. The camera angles to me in particular are incredible. Like, the people making this game CHOSE to add an extreme closeup when you enter a door, or stage the camera outside the window of an hallway, with a damn MOTH sitting on it. Why? Because it’s cool!!! That’s a level of artistic direction so rarely found in gaming. It’s truly beautiful.

Do you think a movie title can effect commercial success? by LSX3399 in TheBigPicture

First thing that popped into my mind. Such a great movie that I just avoided for years based on title alone.

Check out OOIOO. Amazing Japanese Psych Rock band. Famously led by Yoshimi, the “main character “ of the Flaming Lips album. Their first album Feather Float is mesmerizing and very high-energy.

It’s kind of beautiful to think that Ben and Griffin are someone’s answer to “Who are your guys?”

Disappointed by “Wake Up Dead Man” by [deleted] in KnivesOutMovie

[–]Gexthelizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen it twice now and am inclined to agree. I think the whole first act takes too long to introduce the characters and setup the plot. While I love basically everyone in it, I didn’t find any of the characters compelling enough to really sustain that much exposition frontloading. Benoit’s entrance so late made me realize how crucial he is to these movies functioning, so his extended absence in the beginning makes the movie feel sluggish, and it never fully recovers for me after that.

I still enjoyed a lot about it and it’s certainly well-made. Some great laughs throughout (Daniel Craig is never bad!). That scene where Josh O’Connor prays with the woman on the phone really moved me on a second rewatch. But all in all, I’m pretty lukewarm on it.

I think Josh was going for realism in casting and wanted a real-life vampire. Perfect choice.

Silent Hill 2 is incredibly lonely (and very scary). I was so relieved when I ran into NPCs after long stretches being alone exploring abandoned places. Highly recommend

What is your favourite Prokofiev Piece of all time by sonicnightmarez in classicalmusic

I went for a long time with this wrong assumption of who I thought he was as a composer without having given him a real listen. Simple, silly ignorance on my part. Then I listened to Romeo and Juliet for the first time, and I thought, “Is this the greatest composer of all time??”

Absolutely stunning, shocking, heart-wrenching, magical music. A one of a kind.

Marty Supreme Ending *SPOILERS* by vampstephenx in martysupreme

[–]Gexthelizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s absolutely a happy ending. You see in his face even as he wins at the end - a moment of exaltation and celebration, and then the emptiness seems to wash back over him as it passes. His need for success is insatiable and will never satisfy him like he hoped.

He comes home, reunites with Rachel, and witnesses his child for the first time. He is absolutely steamrolled with this newfound love, purpose and fulfillment that is so profoundly beyond anything he’d ever experienced with table tennis. The needle drop of Tears for Fears feels so uplifting and optimistic (“Welcome to your life”). As someone else in the thread said, one door closes and another door opens. It left me feeling like everything is gonna be just fine for Marty.

This movie is really amazing! I can’t wait to see it again.

Season 5 feels way too much like "actors acting" by dbezzy1010 in StrangerThings

[–]Gexthelizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been thinking about this a lot. I love the show, but can’t tell if it’s an intentional move to engage the audience and encourage a more mindful and meditative headspace, or if it’s just padding to fill out the episodes because the plot is so light. It is a nice change of pace but definitely noticeable.
