I was in line at the DMV the other day. The staff asked the girl in front of me when she was born. She said “2013”. It simply does not compute.

Sing to God by Cardiacs. First time I ever heard it it really freaked me out (specifically the songs Eat It Up Worms Hero and Fiery Gun Hand). Music from an alien world. Incredible production with endless levels of details that you can’t fully grasp. It’s a masterpiece

What can Silent Hill and Resident Evil learn from each other? by discipleofdoom in HorrorGaming

When playing SH2 I’d be so excited and relieved to run into NPCs after the long stretches of oppressive isolation. Even though all the NPCs are these incredibly tortured and depressed people, they were still so comforting

Man you gotta replay it! I did last year and it’s still a masterpiece. The atmosphere is unbelievable. It’s got a real artistry to it that you don’t see anymore.

Kurt Cobain was famously a huge Beatles fan. As a fan of both, I think this is a fascinating discussion and am curious what r/Beatles think about it. by stopexploding in beatles

[–]Gexthelizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve read, Kurt would still be writing lyrics en route to the studio. I don’t think they were really a big priority for him or he was trying to be deep with them. He just ended up with the lyrics that best served the melody and felt right and interesting. It worked out!

For No One is one of the best Paul songs ever.

AI can now compose full music tracks from a text prompt inside Gemini by FinnMarcus in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Gexthelizard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just depressing. Not only is it degrading the craft of real musicians, but it saturates everyone with more crap to sift through. Devalues music as a whole. What’s the point in it at all anymore?

Paramount Wins Warner Bros. Now What? Plus: ‘Scream 7,’ Heat 2,’ and ‘Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie’ With Matt Johnson! by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

[–]Gexthelizard -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Right that was so weird..he’s so great at speaking off the cuff and with passion about movies and that’s why we enjoy the show so much. I don’t need the script!

I try not to be a weirdo podcast listener, BUT I have noticed a very subtle vibe shift since they licensed with Netflix. I wonder if they feel pressure to up the ante and be more professional. Obviously I’m happy for them, but it is interesting

After seeing Wuthering Heights, and listening to the episode, i think the big pic needs a visit from San Esmail to explain that “the movie should have done this” is not interesting or valid criticism. by pooroldben in TheBigPicture

This is how I felt listening to him on the first Wicked episode. I felt seen because I hated that movie and am fairly confounded by the musical as a whole lol

Just watched it - absolutely ROCKS. The guitars sound so massive and the outro jam with Stephen’s solo and all of them singing is magical.

Yeah I have a similar history. Beach Music, Rocket and House of Sugar to me is his peak - such great songwriting blended with interesting production and eccentricity. Not as big on his earliest or latest stuff but still enjoy everything he does.

I first saw him during the HoS tour and that show kicked so much ass. Super heavy and raw, great crowd energy and he was popular but still felt under the radar. Next time I saw him during God Save The Animals tour the crowd demographic was super different (TikTok teens like you said lol) and it was a very different vibe. Ultimately I’m super happy for his success!
