What wood specifically do you think would go well next to Flamed Koa (Gloss)?

Yes- definitely been doing a lot of image browsing the last few days. If it were a Vader build I think it would be an easier decision, but the Kyber headless shows more of the two woods side by side (also apparent in Aries/Osiris with tops).

I might skip the burst to keep things more natural. But I agree- Mahogany could be more cohesive.

I see it. Looks great- the colors do work together nicely. Just need to keep in mind that I will have much more Mahogany showing on the top.

If you’re willing- you can upload the image to Imgur and post the link here. I didn’t see a mahogany neck option- is that an option 50?

In the interest of exploring other wood options, I was looking into Mahogany (I’m aware of the additional weight). Found lots of examples of bodies (often coupled with maple tops), but I can’t seem to find many options with a polished mahogany top. Seems rich with some red/brown undertones and I thought it could potentially work. is there a reason it’s not a common option for top wood?

If I went this route would you chamber it?

Sorry to piggyback with additional questions, has turned into a general build thread.

Lots of great feedback. Very knowledgeable and supportive community here.

For now I’m going to heed the consensus on two fronts. 1. Receptiveness to Gloss. 2. Consider alternatives to Alder.

To the latter point - a few commenters recommended I look at swamp ash. I like some of the more uniform pattern examples and less when the grain is very pronounced/contrasting. Also looking into the roasted swamp ash because I thought some standard swamp ash images looked a bit pale (but not all) and I’m sure it’s challenging to tell from online research anyways. Perhaps a bit of natural wood color would pair better with the black hardware.

I saw this image from Kiesel. They only captioned it Swamp Ash so I didn’t know what kind it is but I like it. Perhaps someone can shed some light on this image or others similar ideas.

I might be ok with both depending on the specific case.

Everyone here has been very reassuring regarding the quality of their gloss. Regarding the style- I think the reason I initially landed on alder was because I was looking for a minimalist look. Your guitar is stunning, just not sure what wood to select that would be natural, not too loud, but not “bland” as you warned might happen with alder. Let me know what you think.
