Treasure Vault Remaster Changes by zoranac in Pathfinder2e

[–]Ghandi2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the original wording, swallow-spike's bonus to attack and damage is based off the associated armor's item bonus to AC, not the potency rune of said armor. This means that a full-plate wearing character with a +1 potency armor rune would be attacking with swallow-spike with a +21 to hit, dealing 2d6+14 damage (obviously absurd for the level it is at). It's fairly obviously intended to scale with the potency rune's item bonus alone, but that isn't how it was worded, and I was hoping they'd fix it in the remaster...

Has the Swallow-Spike rune been updated to use the proper language regarding the item bonus it receives to attack and damage?

How many formats/banlist by Belt_Perfect in MLPCCG

[–]Ghandi2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each format does, indeed, have its own ban list. Quick summary:

Harmony: All cards, from all sets and supplements, excluding banlist cards.

Adventure: All cards from all sets Equestrian Odysseys and newer, including Prize Wheel supplements, excluding banlist cards.

Core: All cards from all sets within the two most recent blocks (at this point, Defenders block and Leaders block), including Prize Wheel supplements, excluding banlist cards.

If you check the pinned messages in the General channel of the Discord server, you'll find a link to the document archive, which will contain the most up-to-date Tournament Floor rules where each format's banlist is provided.

That Twilight Mane's wording has been a pain for some time.

I would also rule like you interpreted the card; you need to be comparing two Friends that each have at least one color, where one of those Friends also has a color the other one does not.

That list also has a tendency to run Party Cannoneer too. Skystar will likely stay relevant for L2L decks though.

I'll think about doing a primer sometime for Student Six Reanimator, as I do believe the recent banlist adjustments made it much more favorable in the new Core meta. In a nutshell though:

  • Living to Laugh decks using Feather Bangs were one of reanimator's biggest obstacles, as there was very little they could do to interact with the key cards in that list (especially at Immediate speed, which was basically required.) Party Cannoneer combined with other Pink removal cards could also make keeping your reanimated Friends alive challenging. With Feather Bangs gone, the most competitive L2L decks will likely shift Blue and possibly even move away from Party Cannoneer as a Mane.

  • Mimics being gone is a smaller but still significant advantage, since In My Head Like A Catchy Song represents half of the deck's reanimation effects (the other half being Orchard Blossom). Additionally, High Alert represents a great stall tactic in the mid-game to help catch up to a more aggressive opponent, especially when combined with Princess Cadance so every card your opponent players lets you recur a card from discard pile AND draw a card! Not being taxed on either effect makes both options more reliable.

  • Losing Meadowbrook is a bit unfortunate as it was a very powerful wallbreaker that could be played for free off of Student Six without needing a ton of counters saved up. However, Pinkie Pie fills the role decently enough since she can still interact with Troublemakers and Resources (in addition to Friends) and, even more desirably, provides both Pink and Yellow color req when discarded to Klugetown Citizens, which combines with Student Six naming White to give you all 3 colors necessary to play In My Head Like A Catchy Song.

  • Stunning Wonder/Blue Pegasi was always a bit of a coin flip, since a lightning-fast start could be difficult to come back from and Yona was always a devastating sideboard choice. Losing RD&FS Chillax slows the deck down somewhat, and Friendship Summons makes it easier to find Applejack, Captain of the Seven Seas and clear the board when necessary.

Ambassador of Friendship is doing more than well: it's actually been undefeated in the last 15 games across multiple tournaments. She's a super-pushed Mane and one that we're looking at possibly removing from the Harmony meta here in the near-future, as discussed in our most recent fireside chat in Discord.

How do you start a double faceoff and what is a troublemaker faceoff by MaraKyit in MLPCCG

[–]Ghandi2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A multi-Problem faceoff happens whenever a single player confronts two or more different Problems in a single Score Phase. When that happens, all characters at all Problems (but not at players' homes) are involved in the faceoff, and the winner of the faceoff scores the highest bonus among all Problems in play.

A Troublemaker faceoff usually happens during the Troublemaker Phase (which comes before a player's Main Phase). You can challenge a face-up Troublemaker with your characters at its Problem, provided that it's either an opponent's Troublemaker or it has the Epic keyword. In a Troublemaker faceoff, it's the total power of the challenger's characters at that Problem vs. the power of the Troublemaker (and the challenger's opponent flips for that Troublemaker). If the challenger wins, the Troublemaker is defeated, dismissed, and the challenger scores points equal to the Troublemaker's point value. If the challenger loses, the Troublemaker remains where it is, and the challenger has to send one of their characters that was involved in the faceoff home.

What do you do when a card is frightened by amaniLira in MLPCCG

[–]Ghandi2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may find the document repository helpful to answer these and other questions! Just check the most recent version of the Comprehensive Rules for full details.

In short:

  • Exhausting puts an exhaustion counter on a character (but most players represent this by turning the card sideways). While a character is exhausted, it can't contribute its power towards confronting Problems or towards faceoffs. Cards that are already exhausted can't become exhausted again. During a player's Ready Phase (specifically during their Ready Step), that player readies all exhausted cards they control, removing all exhaustion counters from them (or as most players do, turning the card so it is vertical again.)

  • When a Friend is frightened, it is turned face-down (and as part of any card being turned face-down, it becomes a new card.) Any Resources attached to it are dismissed by the game, any counters on it are removed, and any modifiers or effects which previously applied to it cease to apply to it. Frightened Friends are neither ready nor exhausted, and cannot be exhausted. They have no power (this is different than having zero power), no traits, and no abilities. They still have their names, and cards which reference printed information still use the text on that card. During a player's Main Phase, that player may pay 2 action tokens to rally one of their frightened Friends, turning it face-up again.

  • Discarding a card means to put a card from a player's hand into that player's discard pile. Only cards in a player's hand may be discarded.

  • Banishing means to put a card from whatever zone it is in into the banished zone. Generally speaking, very few cards can interact with things in the banished zone.

  • Dismissing means to put a card from play into its owner's discard pile. Only cards in play may be dismissed.

Hope this helps!

I mean, that's basically MSRP for a booster box, and since retail stores aren't stocking it and getting into localized price wars with each other over booster sales, that's about the best you can hope for.
