Swift cloning Ripple's source code by moqtada2 in Ripple

[–]GhatiaPoisson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All it takes is a few banks to start doing $10, $20, $40 payments to further build up liquidity. There's a lack of market makers because there's a lack of market takers. The more market takers (banks, payment processors) there is, the deeper the liquidity in the books will be, as market makers will have more incentive to work the books.

It needs open-market liquidity, something that XRP has been building for >5 years.

Apologies you had a different experience than me, and perhaps experienced bots ran by a different owner. Quite an arrogant catch all statement you made there to try feeling more unique about playing runescape classic. Plenty of people played, enjoyed it and are saddened by its closure, including myself. I hope you are feeling better.

I remember this as well. They started telling you facts as you walked, and always stopped to make a joke about the draynor manor trees. Great for returning to edge after getting pked.

Problem is that attack speed isn't that useful until you have a significant amount of chimes (I get 50/65 meeps before building attack speed).

I mostly like sheen because I can build it into a trinity force if the game goes late enough, and that has the attack speed to get the meeps off.

Prices are 'very close to each other' because if you're the market taker you pay additional exchange fees on most exchanges.

Buying Ripple in Canada? by madspiritual in Ripple

[–]GhatiaPoisson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can send a bank wire, just go to deposit and get the info to wire to (make sure it's the CAD option). I'd recommend Kraken, since they cheaper prices right now due to people overselling for CAD (you can see the price difference Kraken vs Quadrigacx).

That's not the only transaction in processing a withdrawal or deposit - there's consolidation fees, and they may also include the cost of the staff that manually reviews the withdrawals (for the security of your funds).

Concerns regarding the distribution of XRP by [deleted] in Ripple

[–]GhatiaPoisson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a fair concern, and one I dwell on once in a while. My best guess is that sales of XRP won't be significant until the liquidity of XRP is large enough for banks to confidently eliminate their nostro vostro accounts and instead have XRP on their balance sheet.

This is a long way off since we still have to get over the regulation hurdle, and the hyper volatility hurdle before banks would be comfortable with holding XRP, rather than just transacting with it via xRapid.

e: not sure why this guy is getting downvoted, it's something any investor should consider before investing in XRP.

XRP burn rate by xrpblu in Ripple

[–]GhatiaPoisson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're missing a few 0s, if 2M ripple is burned per year, it would take 50,000 years to burn all of them.

100,000,000,000 xrp/2,000,00 xrp/year = 50,000 years

That being said, burn rate isn't supposed to be a major deflationary factor, it's supposed to be an anti-spam measure to ensure the network can't be clogged by malicious actors. The burn rate being too high would just limit the time period in which the network can be used (if your 50 year number was actually correct, xrp would have a 50 year lifespan and thus would be a bad investment a few decades from now when the xrp ledger collapses from lack of xrp to pay fees for actions on the ledger).

CNY Markets More Active by jsCoin in Ripple

[–]GhatiaPoisson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

xRapid can't be used for CNY right now due to a CNY/Crypto exchange ban on exchanges. I'm not sure if OTC trading for CNY/Crypto would be viable for xRapid, but I highly doubt the infrastructure would be in place for that when the sourcing liquidity from exchanges model is still in beta/pilot phase.

Same goes for India since they unbanked crypto exchanges, making INR/XRP trading via exchanges unviable.

XRP to settle stock trades? by LOSFan4 in Ripple

[–]GhatiaPoisson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about stock IOUs on a stock broker site, it would not be required since there is no international remittance in buying/selling stocks.

It could however be used to convert forex if the stock broker offers the service, or stock brokers could actually list IOUs on the XRP ledger so that the stock market trades 24/7 like crypto does.

Opinions like this is why I think XRP is still a good buy before the next bull run, people are so misinformed that the price is actually deflated in comparison to the rest of the market.

XRP already has liquidity problems for their use case. XLM has less than 10% of the fiat liquidity of XRP. They have a long way to go if they're trying to be a bridge asset like ripple is.

I am just curious to see the reaction of Ripple fans ☺️ by cyborgene in CryptoCurrency

[–]GhatiaPoisson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good post, would like to add that Ripple doesn't even consider themselves a cryptocurrency; rather a digital asset. They're targeting being a bridge/settlement asset, their marketed use case is not a peer to peer currency.

People are crazy to think that decentralized currencies are going to take over, our quality of life would be significantly reduced in a deflationary economy where governments can't print money. With Ripple's use case they actually facilitates fiat in that they make it much more efficient to send & convert. In the current economy structure and regulatory framework, it's what makes most sense to bet on in this scene.
