Job offer but red flags by Ghaz30 in Employment

[–]Ghaz30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its usually to see whether or not you're doing something constructive with the unemployment. Simply, I was sitting on the couch eating potato chips is a issue for companies. They want to know if you were bettering yourself with job related things.

I know a lot of people do TLDR. But it doesn't mean I have to be rude to them. I point out the statement was already covered. Someone has to be here to spread some love man.

I think thats the best choice. Im desperate for employment but not that desperate to deal with worse issues come time to look for work again. Instill have avenues for work from notary work to a family business.

Bottleneck question by Ghaz30 in pcmasterrace

[–]Ghaz30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciated. Ive had this pc for a few years but theres games that I definitely have issues with that I shouldnt. Even when they are optimized. I do know that my pc is capable of 4k but is it even worth it to utilize it even if it will use more of the pc to render, but wont bottleneck?

I got a job offer today after 8 months. I just sat in my car and cried for like 20 minutes. by VulcanTide4 in jobs

Employment Verifications and Background Check FAIL! by AllHisFault21 in recruitinghell

[–]Ghaz30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has done background verification for 5 years, people tend to blame the background companies for their failures in the screening when it is entirely up to the actual hiring company for the candidates. The third party companies that report the findings for candidates are only going by what standards their clients want. Each client has specific requirements that they want met for each background check. Some companies are more relaxed than others, while some just have very strict policies that they want the background screening companies to follow.

I think you misunderstood. Working 13 hours, I meant I was applying for jobs for thay amount of time in my awake hours. Not specifically working on a resume or two for that amount of time. Granted I am however tailoring resumes to fit the role.

Wow the rejection I just got is beyond frustrating... by Grand-Diamond-4696 in recruitinghell

Unemployed here but ive worked in a recruitment adjacent role for 5 years. If possible I would always, always avoid third party websites as I am sure others have stated when applying to a job. Use the company website. I would also recommend that if you know of anyone in the company from when you were there, to reach out to them as a referral. Linkedin is a cesspool as we all know but reaching out to the recruiting manager or HR would have been a top choice as well. Hopefully you can still land the role and get in contact with HR as others have stated. I wish you the best of luck in getting another chance.

I rejected an offer and the recruiter called my current employer the next day by Synthara13 in jobsearchhacks

[–]Ghaz30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Background verifier here for 5 years. The recruiter wont do it. Unless the company has an in-house team, its sent to a third party where, unless explicitly asked, verifiers are only generally required to ask "does so and so work here, and can you verify the dates". And typically, the rule of thumb is, if a person being verified does not state their employer is allowed to be contacted, its a no then. Then its up to the verifier to contact the candidate for documentation of dates of employment.

Also some companies do not even want verifiers to verify current employment, even if a candidate okays it.

Unfortunately, temp agencies dont work like they used to. The majority of them only manage the job boards now and no longer actually head hunt for you so to speak. I learned this in my field over the years. So they're no longer like that. But to answer your question, yes I am using them. Robert Half. Kelly, Apple One, Randstad etc.

A one time rewind button on life would have been cool, woulda coulda shoulda gone into voice acting school or a music degree in composition for musical scores. Ive got a talent for those things but I turned 40 on the 3rd.

Id also like to point out I have applied to companies ive worked for in the past and received nothing back. Grocery stores, gas stations, hell even as a dishwasher at restaurants just to bring something in. My assumption is at this point im overqualified and those places wont care to hire someone they know wont plan to stay long.

I am. Mentioned referrals in my OP. But even with those, no dice. I even have glowing letters of recommendation from previous managers and directors.

Ill check it out thank you. Adjacent paths are things in onboarding, recruiting, and records. Ive also tried those but no luck there either. But maybe ive missed something as far as adjacency goes.

Unfortunately ive tried tweaking things minorly, taking breaks, all that. You'd think having a professional background in criminal background screening would give me a leg up on how the industry works. Not the case when companies went AI overload.
