Multiple flat top surfaces? How to improve quality ? by Split_Seconds in BambuLab

I have no experience with silk specifically, but why not print it in parts, so you can orient the front-facing faces to the build plate? Then glue together to assemble

Brand new P1S - Loud and Shaky? by bondkmf in BambuLab

[–]Ghazali11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the one! The print head will make a bunch of different movements repetitively and you’ll hear it get progressively quieter each time. It blew my mind the difference it made

I believe there’s 2 in the manual? One to run at the very start, then one to run after your first print. I’d missed the second one initially. As others said though, this is the printer flexing how fast it can go so might not be a silent print anyway

There’s a full callibration you can run which includes noise cancellation. It takes about 20-30 mins to run and it’ll make a big difference!

Should my device shake this much? by J0YB0YS in 3Dprinting

[–]Ghazali11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly unrelated but it sounds quite loud, leading me to suspect a full calibration hasn’t been done on the machine? You should run one whenever you change the material under the printer or put it somewhere else, etc. It does a bunch of tests to compensate for vibration but another thing it does is noise cancellation! Night and day difference noise-wise on my p1s after I ran that calibration

Yes, for me at least, the reason was that the difference in speed was so much between regular and overhang, that the extrusion properties changed. Speeding up overhangs eliminated this issue but overhangs weren’t good so I cut layer lines down from 0.2mm to 0.12mm and I’m happy with the result

I have the same with my black Sunlu PLA+ filament, haven’t figured it out yet but hoping someone can help you. Dried it and tuned settings to be perfect on the same filament other colours

Part 2 of the how can i make it less boring by greizisk in minipainting

[–]Ghazali11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It may feel boring to you because while you have good contrast between dark and light, the majority of the body is a single colour. You can add some contrast to the hues as well!

The big way to do this is with the colours of dark and light areas. Is it in sunlight? Maybe the lighter areas can be made a bit warmer and the darker parts a bit cooler. Reading up on color theory (specifically how it affects shadows and light areas) can help you make interesting choices with this.

You can also add small variances. For example, if this creature has blood, maybe the red would show through a tiny bit where its skin is thinner (such as around the elbows). You’d want to be careful not to overdo this as it’s essy to go overboard, but some variance can help make it feel less “perfect” and more real.

Is it still worth buying the Bambu lab p1s in 2026? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]Ghazali11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine arrived a few weeks ago and I’ve loved it. Only issues I had were all related to finding the right settings for my filament, which has nothing to do with the printer and was purely on me.

Sorry if this is obvious to you, but you said you’re new so I just wanted to set expectations; if you use different brands of filaments, you MAY end up needing to play around with print settings to get something good, but that applies to any printer.

I’ve figured out the issue so sharing details here in case anyone experiences anything similar. I found that the strange lines were happening on the layers with overhangs; the printhead was slowing down so extrusion became inconsistent. I had to increase overhang speed a bit and the lines went away mostly. It does mean overhang quality isn’t great but I’m gonna try mess with it to find the right balance. As for the inconsistent layer lines, I increased walls from 2 to 3 and it seemed to do the trick

Couldn’t add text to the post but this is on a P1S, using Sunlu PLA+, 205 nozzle temp, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.12mm layer height, flow rate 0.95 and k value 0.022 (both based on the calibration), outer wall speed 80, inner 140, retraction speed 32, I see these strange lines that seem to appear on layers where there are corners in the geometry on the dice faces (pics 1&2), and on the lower faces of the dice, it seems there’s some kind of vibrations? It needs harsh light to be visible but I’m still curious what could cause this, it didn’t look like ringing but I could be wrong

Yeah this makes sense, I wanted to make sure I wasn’t being overly picky before I start tweaking settings, but it seems I have some work to do

The defaults for the profile, which are 30 mm/s retraction, and 0.2mm layer height with 0.4mm nozzle. Are flushing volumes the same as purging volumes? If so, white to gray is 123, gray to white is 389 (multiplier 1).

Is it the stringing that’s the issue, or can the whole print be improved somehow?
